🚨 Emergency Call-Out | Reactive Marine Repairs

When our clients need us most, we respond.

Our team recently attended an emergency call-out to carry out reactive steel repairs onboard, working efficiently to minimise downtime and return the vessel to service as quickly and safely as possible.

Operating in challenging conditions, our engineers delivered a safe, high-quality repair while working to tight operational deadlines—demonstrating the expertise and responsiveness that our clients rely on.

At Vertex Marine Ltd, we understand that unexpected failures don’t wait for planned maintenance windows. Whether it’s emergency call-outs, reactive repairs, or planned marine engineering projects, our team is ready to support vessels across the UK.

If you require rapid-response marine welding, fabrication or engineering support, get in touch.

Another stainless steel pipework package completed and ready for delivery from the Vertex Marine workshop.

This project involved the fabrication of multiple stainless steel spool pieces, complete with flanged connections, branch pieces and welded threaded bosses. Every section was prefabricated in-house to ensure accurate fit-up, minimise installation time and deliver a consistent, high-quality finish.

At Vertex Marine, we know that successful installations begin long before arriving on site. Careful preparation, precise fabrication and attention to detail allow our clients to reduce downtime and install with confidence.

Whether it’s a single spool or a complete pipework package, our team delivers the same commitment to quality on every project.

✔ Stainless steel pipe fabrication
✔ TIG welding
✔ Flanged pipework assemblies
✔ Workshop prefabrication
✔ Marine & industrial engineering

If you’re looking for a fabrication partner who values quality, reliability and workmanship, we’d be pleased to discuss your next project.

Another successful project completed by the Vertex Marine team aboard a cross-Channel ferry

Following inspection, the vessel’s fairlead rollers were found to have seized due to insufficient grease reaching the critical bearing surfaces. Rather than replacing the assemblies, our engineers stripped, refurbished and redesigned the lubrication system to improve grease distribution throughout the rollers.

Scope of works included:
• Removal of the fairlead rollers
• Workshop refurbishment and inspection of all components
• Modification of the internal grease channels to improve lubrication
• Welding and machining of worn areas
• Reassembly, testing and reinstatement onboard

By addressing the root cause of the failure, this refurbishment will improve reliability, reduce maintenance requirements and significantly extend the service life of the equipment.

🔧 Investing in the Next Generation of Marine Engineers 🔧

At Vertex Marin, we are proud to be working in close partnership with DFDS Global , helping to develop the next generation of skilled engineers through hands-on welding and fabrication training.

Each week, DFDS apprentices join us in the Vertex workshop, where they gain valuable practical experience working alongside experienced professionals in a real-world fabrication environment. This on-site exposure provides opportunities and learning experiences that they may not otherwise have access to, allowing them to develop essential welding, fabrication, and workshop skills that will support their future careers.

It’s fantastic to see DFDS investing heavily in their apprentices and future workforce, demonstrating a real commitment to developing talent and ensuring the industry continues to benefit from highly skilled engineers for years to come.

We look forward to continuing this partnership and supporting these apprentices as they build their knowledge, confidence, and technical abilities.

A good milestone for the team at Vertex Marine.

We’ve successfully achieved Lloyd’s Register approval for our EH36 welding procedures, further strengthening our ability to support the marine and offshore sectors with certified fabrication, structural repairs, and vessel modifications.

Alongside our existing approvals, including compliance with the EU Pressure Equipment Directive (PED), this demonstrates our continued commitment to delivering work that meets recognised industry standards for quality, safety, and traceability.

A big thank you to everyone involved in the preparation, testing, and qualification process. Achievements like this are only possible through the hard work and attention to detail of the entire team.

As we continue to invest in our capabilities, we’re looking forward to supporting new and existing clients across the marine, offshore, and industrial sectors.

Vertex Marine recently completed the renewal of cow catcher gratings onboard a busy cross-channel ferry.

These gratings are subjected to constant wear from vehicle traffic, harsh marine conditions and daily operational demands. Working to a tight schedule, our team removed the deteriorated sections, fabricated replacement gratings and carried out installation and welding works.

By completing the project efficiently and to a high standard, the operator benefited from reduced downtime, allowing the vessel to return to operations sooner and helping minimise disruption and associated costs.

Another example of delivering practical marine engineering solutions where time, quality and reliability matter.

Vertex Marine Ltd working up close on the bow of GIANNA this week.

Our team were tasked with removing and modifying heavy anchor chain links safely and efficiently from CPBS Marine Services multicast “Chili Dog”. From positioning the pontoon to precision cutting and handling, every stage required careful planning and experienced hands on deck.

It’s jobs like this that highlight the importance of practical knowledge, the right equipment, and a team that knows how to get it done safely under pressure.

Another solid bit of work delivered by the Vertex Marine team.
