We are proud to announce that we have made it to the final 4 of the Awards!!! Lingard house was built during Covid-19 and I think it’s safe to say this place has been a very special build for all our team. So to make it to the shortlist along some of the best in the industry just makes it even better. All of our team will be heading to London for the award ceremony in November and are looking forward to a great evening 🤞🏼

Our Story

The Norton family have been involved in forestry and sawmilling in the South East for almost 50 years. From humble beginnings cutting coppice for logs and charcoal in the 1940s, to cutting timber for the Kent coal field on mobile sawmills in the forests around Canterbury area in the 1950 and 60s. Building and running sawmills in Sandwich and Bishopsbourne in the 1970s and 80s then in the mid 1980s moving back into forestry, then the great storm came and we soon became known as one of the few contracting teams with expertise and equipment to tackle the job of clearing the devastation. In 1995 we started up a new sawmill under the Norton Timber name on the Goodnestone Park estate, relocating the business to our Shepherdswell site in 2002, and the installation of one of the few big hardwood sawmills left running in the South of the country. We specialise in oak frame timber buildings, you can view our projects to see the type of work we have produced over the years.

THE FUTURE

Norton Timber continues to source timbers from well managed forests, while building on our outstanding reputation for advising and supplying the requirements of our customers. As a TRADA registered strength grader we can also supply architecturally graded timbers up to THA specification.
