Some galvanising issues are decided long before the steel arrives at the plant.

The way steel is designed, detailed and fabricated can make a real difference to coating quality, corrosion protection, project efficiency and lead times.

That is why, on 16 September 2026, Sperrin Galvanisers Limited will open its doors as part of the Galvanizers Association Galvanizing Industry Open Day 2026.

This is a practical opportunity to see the hot dip galvanising process in action, meet our technical teams, and better understand how design decisions affect the final result.

During the Open Day, you will learn more about:

✅ corrosion protection

✅ coating quality

✅ project efficiency

✅ lead times

✅ designing steel for galvanising

Plant tours will take place at:

Tynagh | Draperstown

Free Royal Institute of the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI) and Engineers Ireland approved CPD presentations will also be available for engineers and architects.

All CPD attendees will receive certificates.

PPE will be provided on the day, with tea, coffee and snacks available.

Local businesses and local passion.

That combination still matters. 🏁

At Sperrin Galvanisers, we believe supporting local initiatives is just as important as supporting local industry.

That’s why we’re delighted to sponsor 62 Racing for the upcoming 2026 Road Racing Season.

Road racing takes commitment, precision, and plenty of determination.

☘️ Heads up for next week

Please note that the offices of Sperrin Galvanisers in Tynagh will be closed on Monday (16th) and Tuesday (17th) March 2026 in observance of St. Patrick's Day.

Operations will resume as normal on Wednesday.

👉 Important: This closure does not apply to Sperrin Galvanisers Draperstown, which will operate as usual.

Steel doesn’t fail overnight.
It rots quietly… until it’s too late.

That’s the real problem with corrosion.
You don’t see it coming, until repair costs hit hard.

Duplex coating changes the rules.

Hot dip galvanizing creates a metallurgical bond between zinc and steel. Not paint. Not a film. A bond.

Then Galvacoat paint adds another protective layer on top.

And here’s the kicker:
Even if the surface gets scratched, zinc sacrifices itself to protect the steel underneath.

Paint alone? One scratch = corrosion starts.
Duplex system? The steel stays protected.

That’s not theory.
That’s chemistry doing its job.
