🍄 Beautiful? Maybe. Harmless? Definitely not.
This glistening growth is active dry rot fungus, uncovered at a property this week.
Dry rot often develops out of sight—beneath floors, behind wall linings and inside enclosed spaces—where it can attack timber and cause serious damage before the homeowner realises there is a problem.
And despite its name, dry rot needs moisture to thrive. Successful treatment means finding and fixing that moisture source, exposing the full outbreak and properly treating or replacing affected timber.
Spotted unusual fungal growth, rust-coloured dust, cracked timber or noticed a persistent mushroom-like smell?
Don’t ignore it—have it investigated.
