On Sunday, 7 September, Eclipse (IP) Ltd had a fantastic time at the Scottish Torque Show!
We loved interacting with visitors,offering top tips on how to keep your car secure, and giving out some Faraday pouches.
But did you know? Car theft isn’t just a statistic—it’s a story experienced right across Scotland this year.
Real-Life Car Theft Stories (Scotland, 2025)
- Luxury heist across Central Belt: A series of linked thefts hit homes across Edinburgh, Glasgow, the Lothians, and Borders. High-value cars such as BMWs, Audis, and a Mini Clubman were stolen from residential driveways.
- Rapid arrests in West Lothian and beyond: An 18-year-old was arrested following several car thefts and attempted thefts spanning West Calder, Whitburn, Edinburgh, Falkirk, and Harthill.
- Everyday vehicles remain vulnerable: Since 2020, the Ford Fiesta has become Scotland’s most stolen car with 792 thefts, followed by Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus—often taken for parts to meet the demand in black markets.
These aren’t just headlines - they’re real cases, illustrating how critical car security truly is.

Remove valuables and keys from sight—always.
Consider tech protections: CCTV, Garage/Car storage intruder alarms, Car defenders, Faraday pouches for keyless cars, and tracking systems for add-ons.
Choose safe parking spots: Opt for well-lit, busy areas or secure garages whenever possible.
