Our large Bivalve Purification System is designed for performance, reliability and ease of use. Made from insulated fibreglass with raised runners and a central drain, it ensures your oysters and mussels are purified efficiently.

Each system is turnkey — supplied with everything you need, including a high-capacity UV steriliser, seawater chiller, and trays — all built with exceptional quality as standard.

Holding up to 350kg of bivalves, it’s ideal for shellfish producers and merchants who want dependable, easy-to-maintain purification.

Cecil McCullough and his sons Rodney and Wayne from Kilkeel Harbour in Northern Ireland invested in two Lobster Pods to store 600kg of live lobster. Their challenge wasn’t supply but how to keep their lobsters healthy and hold them longer for the lucrative Christmas trade.

They wanted to be able to sort their catch more easily and improve the price they receive. Rodney described the Lobster Pod as “phenomenal and exceeding our expectations.”

Tap water might seem harmless, but it usually contains chlorine or chloramine, which can cause problems in shellfish systems.

Chlorine evaporates quickly, but chloramine can persist for weeks and is often present even when not added by your local water board.

The safest approach is to treat tap water with products such as Optimus or Seachem and use activated charcoal to support filtration. That way, your water is safe to mix with salt and add to your system.

Meet Dr Keith Todd, our Co-Founder and R&D Director at Todd Fish Tech. Keith’s journey started with a PhD in marine biology before moving into senior roles in public aquariums. In 1998, he turned his expertise towards designing shellfish systems and went on to invent our award-winning Lobster Pod.

He loves solving problems, from developing energy-efficient filtration to building bespoke systems for labs, hatcheries and fisheries.

Energy efficiency is at the heart of everything we design at Todd Fish Tech. Traditional filtration systems often restrict water flow, requiring large pumps that increase running costs and add unnecessary heat to the water.

Our moving bed biofilter and gravity-assisted water flow change that. In the Lobster Pod, a single pump lifts water to the top trays, and gravity does the rest. With no restrictive fixed-bed filters such as sand filters, water flows freely, smaller pumps are used, and energy consumption is reduced.

The result is a system that costs less to run, maintains stable water conditions, and provides a more sustainable solution for shellfish storage and aquaculture.
