Drumhierny Woodland Hideaway 🌿

Glenfort Timber Engineering designed, engineered, hand-crafted and installed this oak frame barn, set deep within the forest at Drumhierny Woodland Hideaway.

The building comprises six structural oak frames, integrated with a glulam lean-to structure, bringing together traditional timber craftsmanship and modern engineered performance. A natural timber venue designed around the moments that matter.

We’re delighted to share images of The O House, Rathmines, Dublin 6.

This truly unique, one-of-a-kind new-build home was designed by Lawrence & Long Architectsand brought to Glenfort Timber Engineering by Jamie Moran -JMH.ie

Jamie entrusted Glenfort with the structural engineering, manufacture, and on-site er****on of this remarkable structure. No small task, but one our team embraced wholeheartedly.

The images highlight the building’s complex geometry, with the striking central “O” courtyard forming the heart of the structure and presenting both technical and creative challenges throughout the build.

This project also holds special meaning for us, as it was one of the last jobs our dear friend and colleague Saul worked on alongside us, with his beloved crane. Saul sadly lost his life in July last year and continues to be deeply missed by everyone at Glenfort.

Towards the end of 2025, Glenfort Timber Engineering proudly manufactured a Glulam roof system for the regeneration of Foynes Railway Station, Co. Limerick for Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail.

The project comprised 11 Douglas fir Glulam trusses, spanning an impressive 13.8 metres, along with over 580 linear metres of purlins. Our skilled engineers and craftsmen were responsible for the full design, manufacture and fitting of the system, delivering both structural performance and visual impact.

This redevelopment will create a striking railway stop and plays an important role in supporting the reinstatement of freight services at Foynes Port — a significant step for regional connectivity and sustainable transport.

A fantastic project to be involved in alongside John Sisk & Son Ltd.

Crafted oak trusses by Glenfort, shaping this new build into a home.

Portarlington Railway Station – Co. Laois

Glenfort Timber Engineering contributed to the restoration of Portarlington Railway Station.

We designed and manufactured 7 large Douglas Fir trusses, each spanning over 8 metres, including structural purlins and hip beams.

The trusses were reinforced with traditional steel straps to replicate the detailing of the original trusses being replaced, conserving the station’s history while ensuring modern structural stability.

Proud to have worked with Vision Contracting on the restoration of this historic building — a rewarding project with a company that values craftsmanship and heritage.

Drogheda Civic Offices - Louth County Council

This restoration project included the installation of five new structural oak trusses and a large octagonal cupola tower, which were supported by traditional timber to timber connections and wrought iron bracketry.

Along with restoring and reinstalling the second building’s original trusses and purlins, which had deteriorated from weather exposure.

Glenfort Timber Engineering played an essential part in designing and engineering the trusses and purlins to support the weight of the grand oak cupola tower, which was finished in copper cladding.
