Guy tagged me in two photos from Saturdays game.
After a very emotional day sorting through 30 years of photos and choosing ones to use for Joe’s funeral these two photos really gave us a much needed pick me up.

Beating a Lytchett team for the first time in the clubs history.
Holding a minutes silence for Joe.
Seeing a rainbow right over the team huddle.
We as a family would love to think they had 16 players in the team Saturday.

Match report

Wheats welcomed Lytchett to the Cattle Market today in a fixture loaded with history and emotion. In over 30 years of Wheatsheaf history, the club had never beaten a Lytchett side. The build-up was made even tougher following a difficult couple of weeks, with burst pipes causing damage to the changing rooms. As always with this special club, people and friends rallied around to help, and the club would like to thank Electric Workz, James Burton Construction Ltd and _completeconstruction_ for their fantastic support their maybe more and I’ll ensure we thank them too !

Before kick-off, a minute’s silence was held to honour the passing of Joe Vincent, brother of our teammate Guy Vincent. The club sends its deepest condolences to Joe’s family and friends.

Lytchett started brightly and dominated the opening ten minutes, camped inside the Wheats 22. Wheats defended resolutely, weathered the storm and began to build momentum. For the next 30 minutes it was all Wheats, with George Yarwood expertly controlling territory and the forwards dominating at scrum and set piece.

The pressure told when Ollie Kemp opened the scoring with an unconverted try, making it 5–0. More strong forward play followed, and slick backs play down the blindside saw Joey Langley score, with Yarwood adding the conversion for a 12–0 lead. Even during a spell reduced to 13 players, Wheats’ defence, exits and centre pressure forced Lytchett into errors. Half-time: 12–0.

Lytchett struck early after the restart, scoring a try, though the conversion was charged down, 12–5. As penalties mounted and yellow cards followed, Wheats turned the pressure back onto Lytchett. A superb long pass from Yarwood found Mike Bryan for a walk-in try, converted to make it 19–5. Gareth Johnstone added a penalty to extend the lead to 22–5.

Another period down to 13 allowed Lytchett back in with a converted try, but Johnstone sealed a historic 25–12 win with the final kick. A proud day for Wheats. Next up, Oaks.
