First few days on the new Wellingborough job and this afternoon we made a start on the brickwork.
Blockwork had to be built first so the platinum board insulation could installed, taped and clipped into place on the back of the blockwork. Doesn’t leave you much room to clean your cavity out but we are managing! Having our two adjoining plots floor levels at 300mm apart proved the first obstacle as this didn’t work blockwork so had to get the thinking cap on to make sure everything worked with insulation and the partition wall could be tied in together!
Haven’t done house bashing for a long time so taking it really slow to start and double and triple checking the drawings constantly so nothing catches me out! Got a couple of really good lads on site helping us out with any questions we have so should get on quite nicely here 👌

A wall repoint we recently completed for ECR Ltd. The client required the existing listed wall to be repointed and any broken bricks to be replaced.
I was part of a meeting with a conservation officer who explained her requirements alongside the clients in what materials she wanted to be used and a style and finish that’s was in line with the wall when it was originally built.
We used a lime putty and sharp sand mix at a ratio of 1:3 which we found best. Once the wall was cleared of all plant life and old mortar carefully removed we used tuck pointers to tightly pack mortar into the open joints. After letting the mortar go off slightly, we scraped it back with a wooden block and used old milk churn brushes to ‘knock back’ the joint. Which not only further compacts the mortar tightly into the joint but also reveals the larger pieces of aggregate in the mortar giving a nice weathered look. This was a very time consuming and eventually monotonous job but I think in the end it brought new life to this old, tired wall!

Last job I done at a medical centre in Aylesbury. Small feather edged bin store.
Post feet attached to ground with concrete anchor bolts. Arris rails attached with brackets, would have much preferred the notched posts to accept the arris rails but you work with what you’ve got 🤷‍♂️ took a lot of drilling and ratcheting but once set up correctly the feather edge went on nice and quick 👌 Had a lot of praise from the site manager on this one who used to be a carpenter so was pretty happy with how it turned out!

Starting this domestic hallway and porch conversion with a lovely wasps nest to deal with! Not ideal, but with a pair of gloves and some fast hands it was in the back garden in no time!
Hallway/Porch wall removed, steel RSJ was inserted and porch timber work replaced.
Studwork framing began by creating a doorway to the kitchen where a plastered arch once was and then straight on to setting out for a washroom. The plumber required access to the ceiling through the kitchen so we cut a Channel out but for the sake of a few hours work ended up replacing the whole ceiling in the kitchen.
Got lucky with the drainage outside and with 2 inspection holes managed to find the old clay sewage pipe. Absolute nightmare as they are so brittle but managed to get a nice solid pvc connection on it 👌
Plasterboard was installed and clean up began and after levelling the floor off and installing the laminate flooring the decorating could begin, completing this lovely new entrance to the home with convenient downstairs washroom giving a more open and modern feel.

Another load of pictures from the start of a medical centre in Aylesbury working with ECR Ltd I always seem to run out of steam and stop taking pictures halfway through building things! Must try harder! 📸 ✅

Haven't been on for a while so I would show some projects we have been on recently.

This is the start of a medical and rehabilitation facility we helped with in Daventry for ECR Ltd.

Looking for an improver to join our gang building a doctors surgery in Aylesbury. Lots of blockwork so would suit someone who is looking to get on the trowel more and improve their speed. Bit of loading out and running to the line with my other lad whilst I keep set up ahead.

Pay will be dependant on experience and can be discussed.
