We were pleased to visit Ashton United in the Community and Tameside South and Longdendale Foodbank as part of our social value commitments through our contract with Northern, donating ÂŁ500 to each organisation.
Via the Pay As You Go (PAYG) initiative across the Greater Manchester rail network, Forte Engineering has chosen charities close to the stations where we are delivering works. The PAYG programme is designed to make travel across Greater Manchester easier and more convenient for passengers.
Ashton United in the Community, close to Ashton-under-Lyne Station, connects Ashton United Football Club with local people through projects, events and activities that support volunteering, confidence, health and skills. The charity also helps tackle challenges including poverty, isolation, poor wellbeing and unemployment.

Tameside South & Longdendale Foodbank, is part of Trussell with delivery centres at St Barnabas Church, close to Hattersley Station and at the Central Methodist Church in Hyde. It works to help stop hunger in the local area and is supported by local churches and community groups.
