A specialist Victorian tile conservation and care project in Glasgow, Scotland. This stunning floor gave us the opportunity to work carefully with history, preserving the beauty of a classic Victorian geometric and encaustic design.
The project began with a detailed assessment of the floor to identify tiles that needed repair, replacement, or re-laying. We then carried out extensive tile matching, sourcing tiles that perfectly matched the originals to ensure the design remained true to its historic character.
Next came the careful cleaning of the floor, removing years of dirt and grime while taking care not to damage the original tiles. Any areas that required it were re-grouted, restoring the crisp lines and geometric patterns. Finally, we applied a protective finish coat to enhance the colours and protect the floor from everyday wear, bringing the patterns and hues to life.
