We got called today on an urgent job in where a well known large gas company had condemned this customers boiler ❌
Pete attended and being a third generation gas engineer and over 35 years experience, he is well used to all kinds of boilers. This back boiler is over 25 years old and a lot of engineers would be nervous of this but Pete striped it down and cleaned it, done a full and thorough service properly and tested everything correctly and found there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. The poor customer had been told they needed a new boiler so you can imagine the relief of saving thousands in just having a proper service and knowing it’s completely safe ✅
The gas company who had attended didn’t even remove the fire front which means they hadn’t actually tested it and simply condemned it. How can you tell if there’s something wrong without actually testing it?!
Unfortunately, we hear this so often and pretty much all of the time, these gas contracts aren’t worth the paper they’re written on, certainly not the hard earned money customers pay them over the course of the year. The services are never done thoroughly, just a quick gas safety check, often with inexperienced engineers.
