HYPED

HYPED HYPED is a team of students at the University of Edinburgh dedicated to developing the Hyperloop concept and inspiring future generations about engineering.

Hyperloop is Elon Musk’s (CEO of Tesla and SpaceX) concept for the future of mass transport. It offers a new means of transporting people and goods quickly, safely, efficiently and with minimised environmental impact. The Hyperloop uses electric propulsion to accelerate a passenger or cargo pod through a low-pressure tube. The autonomous pod levitates slightly using magnets to eliminate friction.

Hyperloop will be faster than an airline and will allow you to travel from London to Edinburgh in 45 minutes. Carbon emissions, noise, delays, journey time, weather concerns and pilot error are ultimately eliminated. HYPED is a University of Edinburgh student team dedicated to accelerating development of Hyperloop technology and implementing Hyperloop in the UK. We have over 100 members in the team working on various aspects of the project including technical design of the prototype, manufacturing, economic feasibility, stakeholder engagement and publicity. HYPED has also progressed in the Hyperloop One Global Challenge. Our proposed route linking Edinburgh to London has been selected as a possible location for the very first commercial Hyperloop. With the route estimated as taking only 45 minutes to link Scotland with the capital, with stops throughout the UK, Hyperloop technology would provide a new form of fast transport for the masses.

Our pod has officially left Edinburgh and is on its way to Veendam. We are so proud of the team and how far our designs have come this year. I can't wait to see how it performs at competition.
