PHANTOM OF THE AEGEAN! 🇬🇷🔥

Earlier this week I found myself, with friends in the mountains of Western Greece, and truly lucky enough to witness the raw power of the legendary F-4 Phantom! Still rumbling through valleys and turning heads more than 50 years after first taking to the skies.

1974 saw the first Phantoms enter service with the Hellenic Air Force, and while only a small number remain airworthy today, 338 Squadron, based at Andravida, continues to keep this Cold War icon alive.

In a world of fifth generation fighters and rapidly disappearing aviation icons, the Phantom remains something special: Loud, smoky, unapologetic and still commanding a huge following wherever it flies.

Every pass through these valleys feels like witnessing a piece of aviation history that won’t last forever.

The Phantom - One of the greatest fighter aircraft ever built?

Back to 2020, when I was lucky enough to photograph Spitfire PL983 / G-PRXI (A rare Mk.11 example in airworthy condition) Piloted by the legendary John Romain who joined up along the Southbank of the Firth of Forth to complete a short photo flight over the bridges! Two iconic pieces of British ingenuity in a shot! Happy Friday everyone! 😊

The fastest, and possibly the glossiest things up the A9 today were of course the Red Arrows and their Hawk T.1's, as they positioned up to RAF Lossiemouth for a week of training. Pictured here passing overhead Blair Atholl is the first wave of 5 jets.

Since around 2005, I have been lucky enough to have a close relationship with the Royal Danish Air Force and their F-16 community. Its been quite some time, since we have had the pleasure of photographing the Danes down low in the UK low flying system (UKLFS), but today, after around seven years of a hiatus, a flight of four Vipers from Skyrdstrup Blasted through the Highlands of Scotland.

Pictured here is "TIGER 24" E-011 in the newly applied Have Glass colour scheme, soon to be applied to the entire fleet, coinciding with the impending arrival of F-35s which will join the Fighter Wing later this year.

Belgian Air Component A400M (CT-05) from the 20th Tactical Airlift Squadron, based at Melsbroek, Brussels made use of the UKLFS late last year. Operating from Prestwick as “Belgian Air Force 641”, The new workhorse of the Belgian Air Component made use of Europes only Electronic Warfare Tactics facility at RAF Spadeadam, Cumbria before dropping in to the Low Level system in Scotland and flowed through the Scottish Borders before recovering to Prestwick.

An evening with the Royal Marines of 846 Naval Air Squadron! Earlier this week, I was lucky enough to photograph the penultimate evening sortie of the latest Operational Conversion Flight course, being held in Scotland.

A wee trip down memory lane.... High over the North Sea with "Dirty Flt" from the 81st Fighter Squadron, which were based at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany just before hitting the Holbeach bombing range again.

As a result of the overall U.S. defense budget cuts. Spangdahlem Air Base's 81st Fighter Squadron stood down and became inactivate during 2013, marking the end of A-10 Warthog operations in Europe.
