Today is world bioproduct day! 🌱

Bioproducts are products that are derived from biological renewable resources or produced through biological processes. At Celtic Renewables, we produce green chemicals such as Bio-Butanol and Bio-Acetone through a century-old fermentation process using, for example, by-products of whisky production or discarded potatoes. These chemicals are used in everyday items such as cosmetics, cleaning products and pharmaceuticals. By using green chemicals to produce these items, their overall carbon footprint is lowered.

Green chemicals play a crucial role in creating a sustainable future, which is why we at Celtic Renewables are at the forefront of the green chemical revolution 🧪

This week, the Scottish Government took a major step towards a more sustainable future with the launch of the Circular Economy Bill. The bill was introduced by Lorna Slater, Minister for Green Skills, Circular Economy and Biodiversity. We were honoured to give her a tour of our biorefinery on launching the bill, showing her how we process by-products of the whisky industry into high-value, low-carbon green chemicals.
