The ICE Edinburgh Early Careers Network is delighted to announce the launch of the Bob McLeod Award 2026.

In partnership with the Institution of Civil Engineers and our sponsors (TBA), the award seeks to recognise outstanding students who demonstrate potential in civil engineering and reward them for their efforts. The Bob McLeod Award celebrates academic dedication, technical curiosity, and innovation, while providing a platform for students to showcase their work to industry professionals and prospective employers. We aim to inspire the next generation of engineers to deepen their passion for civil engineering, contribute to meaningful technical discussions, and develop their professional confidence.

The award is established in memory of the late Bob McLeod, a highly respected civil engineer within the Edinburgh community and former Chair of the ICE Edinburgh Branch. Bob played a pivotal role in delivering the branch lecture programme and supporting the governance of the ICE. He was especially committed to encouraging and promoting young engineers. In addition, Bob and his family endowed the McLeod Memorial Fund at Edinburgh College to support students experiencing financial hardship.
