A QUICK THOUGHT ON THE CHANGES BEING PROPOSED FOR THE BUILDING INDUSTRY
There’s still a lot to be worked out, but from what we’ve seen so far, much of what is being discussed seems to be heading in the right direction.
For us, the biggest positive is the push towards higher standards, clearer accountability and giving customers more confidence when choosing who they trust with their home.
We have always believed that a building company should be judged on far more than just the figure at the bottom of an estimate. The way a company operates, communicates, plans, protects the client, looks after its team and stands behind its work should matter just as much.
That is the standard we continue to build our own company around.

Something else we really value in this industry is the relationship between good building companies.
People who follow our page will probably notice other local builders regularly liking or commenting on our work, and you will see us doing the same with theirs.
There is more than enough work out there for good companies. We respect businesses that take pride in what they do, and healthy competition only encourages everyone to keep raising their standards.
We certainly don’t think regulation should make things unnecessarily difficult for hardworking tradespeople or small businesses, and the detail of any new system will be important.
But if the end result is that customers have more confidence, responsible companies are recognised for doing things properly and standards across the industry continue to rise, then we believe that can only be a positive thing.
