We’re delighted to share that we have been selected to attend the XPRIZE Visioneering Summit this weekend!

In attendance will be world leading scientists, technologists and benefactors, who have been brought together to help tackle some of the world's grand challenges. As part of the event, Touchlab CEO and founder, Dr. Zaki Hussein, has been invited to an alumni panel to share information on our in-hospital teleoperated avatar pilot, and the potential this technology holds.

We are proud to publicly present Välkky: A teleoperated robot avatar designed to support healthcare systems around the world.

After an incredible amount of hard work, technical prowess and determination, our team and the brilliant staff at Laakso hospital successfully completed in-ward trials of the system. This was a globally significant, first-of-its-kind project, and can be marked as a monumental achievement for both our company, and robotics.

Touchlab are delighted to announce the hire of Dr. Ruoshi Wen as our Robotics and Machine Learning Engineer!

Ruoshi completed her postdoc at the The University of Edinburgh, and carries deep experience in machine learning, robotics, and signal processing. She has worked extensively in imitation learning using tactile sensing, and is passionate about advancing intelligent and interactive robots with multi-modal perception capabilities.

What an event!

One week on from when Touchlab hosted CEO of XPRIZE and former ISS astronaut, Anousheh Ansari, on her first ever visit to Scotland.

The event was part of a 2-day series to inspire the next generation of young innovators, and highlight the strides being made by leading Scottish tech companies.

It was a fantastic day, drawing in crowds of innovators, academics and industry experts to discuss the future of robotics. Alongside the fantastic talks by Anousheh Ansari, Dr. Zaki Hussein (CEO, Touchlab), Prof. Sethu Vijayakumar (Programme Director, The Alan Turing Institute, and Founding Director, Edinburgh Centre for Robotics), and Stewart Miller (CEO, National Robotarium), we were lucky enough to host exhibitions from Robotical, Crover, Thistle Rocketry, Shadow Robot, Danu Robotics, Pacla Medical, QTSS, Smart STEM and Marks & Clerk.

Such an event would not have been possible without significant time spent planning and organising by various stakeholders including: Touchlab Limited, Glasgow Science Centre, Scottish Enterprise, the National Robotarium, Craig Samuel, Laura Garcia-Caberol, Kirsty Minster, Sian Williams, and Kevin Scullion, as well as the sponsorship support from Baillie Gifford, Scottish Enterprise, Craig and Colette Samuel, CENSIS, Touchlab Limited and The Scottish National Investment Bank.
