His career journey is a testament to dedication and continuous growth, he started as a production operator and worked his way up through the ranks, building an intimate understanding of every aspect of lamp manufacturing.

As Production Manager, Michael oversees our entire production operation with a focus on what matters most: customer satisfaction, high quality, and continuous improvement. His experience isn't just theoretical, it's built on decades of hands-on work in the industry, giving him insights that only come from truly understanding the business from the ground up.

We’re looking for a hands-on, driven leader to join our team at First Light Lamps.

If you thrive in a fast-paced production environment, enjoy solving problems, and know how to bring out the best in a team, this could be a great fit.

🔧 What you’ll be doing:
• Leading day-to-day production operations
• Ensuring quality standards and targets are met
• Supporting, motivating, and developing your team
• Identifying improvements in efficiency, productivity, and performance
• Collaborating across departments to solve challenges

💡 What we’re looking for:
• Experience in a similar role OR clear progression into leadership
• Strong problem-solving mindset
• A proactive, team-first approach

📍 The details:

Ben joined the First Light team in 2006, bringing with him a Master's degree in Engineering from the University of Cambridge. Over nearly two decades with us, Ben has become instrumental in driving innovation and excellence across our engineering operations.

As Engineering Manager, Ben leads a team of highly skilled engineers and oversees all major engineering projects. His responsibilities extend beyond project management, he's actively involved in maintaining, improving, and designing new equipment to enhance our manufacturing processes and drive continuous improvement across the factory.

Ben's expertise spans the full spectrum of engineering challenges. Whether it's optimising existing systems, solving complex technical problems, or designing innovative solutions that push our capabilities forward, he brings both technical depth and strategic thinking to every project.
