In late 2022, Innovia Films approached us to replace an existing high pressure gas meter reaching the end of its asset life cycle at its HQ and manufacturing site in Wigton, Cumbria.

The company operates bi-annual shutdowns to allow for maintenance work, so the replacement had to be completed and main gas supply restored within five days.

Thanks to the planning, attention to detail and efficiency of the Stark Works team, we completed the installation ahead of schedule (in just three days) to the delight of the client.

Stark Works was contracted by John Sisk & Son Ltd to work on an exciting project at Canada Court, part of the new residential development close to Wembley Stadium. It required the installation of a new single, medium pressure gas service, which would provide domestic heating to the site.

Due to the sensitive nature of this being a residential site, our challenge was to fulfil specific terms of the client’s brief while also complying with regulatory requirements.

We've worked on many iconic projects over the years, none more so than the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Our work was two-fold; temporary re-routing and eventual disconnection of the old stadium gas supply, as well as the installation of a brand-new gas connection.

The size and scope of the project was not the only complicating factor, its location in the bustling streets of North London also proved a challenge, as the team had to factor in significant pedestrian footfall and heavy traffic flow, whilst maintaining minimum disruption.

Last year, Innovia Films approached Stark Works to replace an existing gas meter that was reaching the end of its asset life cycle. The business needed a new high-pressure metering installation in the most time-efficient manner, to prevent disruption to its manufacturing capabilities.

Innovia also requested integration of Stark’s data services on all its installations, to help the business reduce its energy usage and fulfill reporting requirements across all its gas and electricity meters.

We often work on projects involving existing ‘live’ gas supplies, which can be challenging and require us to take additional precautions.

Turning off the gas can be costly and disruptive, so we prefer to employ temporary flow-stopping methods whenever possible. These methods stop the gas flow in a specific area of the pipe without disrupting the entire supply in the pipeline.

We worked with London Square Developments to provide the gas infrastructure for its residential development of one, two and three bedroom apartments in the bustling district of Spitalfields.

One of the biggest challenges on the project was disconnecting the gas supplying the old flats on site, which also fed the neighbouring Grade-II-listed Toynbee Hall. As home to a historical charity, swift diversion and reconnection of the gas supply was required.

The Stark Works team carefully co-ordinated with Toynbee Hall to minimise disruption and allow the building to remain fully-functional and accessible to its local users throughout.
