Diamond Electrical Installations Limited needed a PAT tester so I decided rather than spending my days in my home office I would retrain so I could go out onsite too.

Wow I can’t believe how long it’s been since I’ve posted.

Here’s a selection of things I’ve found testing this month.

Always check your electrical items before you plug them in and please remove the cardboard from them.

Look what I found today. These plugs haven’t been manufactured in the UK since the year of my birth!

In 1984 British Standard BS1363 was amended with a requirement for the live and neutral pins to have an insulated sleeve.

Even though items haven’t been sold with these plugs since 1987 they still pop up every now and then!

Carrying out some tests today with the Diamond Electrical Installations team. So we get asked what are we looking for. Here is a brilliant example the cable has deteriorated and the ends haven’t been made off properly.
