Fowler challenger 3 T68

1960 — Construction & Delivery: Built by John Fowler & Co. in Leeds, T68 was modified by the RNLI with a waterproofed, encased engine and a vertical marine steering wheel. It entered the RNLI Relief Fleet, standing in for other tractors undergoing maintenance.
1960s - 1975 — Coastal Rotation: The vehicle spent its early years moving between beach-launch stations. It saw significant action at Sheringham and Pwllheli, handling Oakley-class wooden lifeboats.
1975 - 1978 — Rhyl Station: T68 was officially registered with the road plate YUV 742 and stationed full-time at Rhyl Lifeboat Station in Wales.
1978 - 1982 — Transferred to Hoylake Lifeboat Station on the Wirral Peninsula, it became the primary launch vehicle to handle the incoming demands of heavier modern carriages.
1982 - 1990 — Final Service Years: Reverted back to the Relief Fleet before being officially retired and decommissioned by the RNLI in 1990, as the Talus MB-H crawler tractors took over frontline duties.

Talus MB-H T114 History

Deployed to Peel Lifeboat Station from 1992 to 2004. T114 handled the launch duties for Peel's Mersey-class lifeboat (ON 1181), before being succeeded by fellow fleet tractor T111

Deployed to Skegness Lifeboat Station from 2005 to 2017. It was the primary launch vehicle for the station’s Mersey-class all-weather lifeboat, the Lincolnshire Poacher (ON 1166). It was replaced in 2017 when the station upgraded to the SLRS

St Ives Lifeboat Station stationed here from 1978 to 1985.

Anstruther Lifeboat Station serving from 1985 to 1991 before being replaced by a Talus MB-H crawler tractor

1991 Retired to the main RNLI Depot before being sold directly into private preservation at the tim Matthew’s collection.
