Where stock comes from has changed.
Where businesses store it has not always followed.
Manufacturers that used to source from the Far East are now working with European suppliers or bringing production back closer to home. Lead times are shorter. Shipments come in more regularly and in smaller volumes.
That changes what storage needs to do. Stock moves faster. The window between arrival and dispatch is tighter. And when that happens, the distance between the warehouse and the next destination starts to cost real time.
A well-located facility cuts that down. Less road time between supplier, storage, and delivery point means fewer delays when a schedule shifts and less margin for error when turnarounds are tight.
If your sourcing has changed in the last couple of years, the location of your storage is worth a second look.
