How about this! Get a job by going through a checkatrade request for your ASHP breakdown when most other efforts fail, Clever in my opinion, shows initiative and resourcefulness.
We have taken on a new apprentice, well at the end of his training anyway. So our Sam answered the phone when we called him back to gain more info about his ASHP breakdown and he replied “well actually I am after a job but after contacting multiple companies and no response I thought to myself how do I find more companies that are specifically ASHP and get a foot in the door to explain I have 4yrs experience, so I placed an add for a breakdown”
I was taken back by this approach and said, your in, you get a 1 year top up training on design and installation of ASHP to back up your NVQ lvl3 plumbing and if you are interested we will teach you AC and all things low carbon heating if you want, after that we will progress you right to the top with that initiative. There should be an award category “most impressive search effort for a job” at the Installer show 2027 for this kind of effort made by a 21 yr old contacting multiple companies and not getting anywhere until he thought outside the box, I see good things ahead.
