UNSAFE BOILER FOUND IN NEWCASTLE

We recently attended a property in Newcastle to carry out a Gas Safety Check when we discovered a serious issue with the boiler’s flue.

The flue had been incorrectly installed, allowing condensate water to drip into the flue. Over time, this caused significant corrosion to both the flue and boiler casing, eventually resulting in holes developing in the appliance.

This made the boiler unsafe and it had to be replaced.

What makes this even more frustrating is that the boiler was only around 6 years old and, apart from the damage caused by the incorrect installation, the rest of the appliance was in good condition.

We removed the unsafe boiler and installed a brand-new Main Eco Compact combi boiler, getting our customer safely back up and running within just a couple of days.

This is a great reminder that regular servicing and gas safety checks aren’t just about ticking a box — they can identify potentially dangerous issues before they become even more serious.
