Recently we have added an additional 4 vans to our growing fleet in the North East as our workload continue to grow as does our workforce delivering the projects. We are trying to reduce the size of our vehicles (when we can) to reduce our CO2 footprint until such a time that we can convert all of our fleet to electric.

We are continuing to see lots of new projects hitting site with existing and new clients that are keen to keep improving and extend their facilities and we work together with them to ensure they can get as much as possible for their available budgets.

There are several new faces at Northern Bear Building Services as our business continues to grow and we begin to invest in creating opportunities for younger people in the local area.

Working with Gateshead College, we have two students Amelia and Haider who have joined us to gain their Level 4 Apprenticeship in Quantity Surveying. With one day a week in college and the rest of their working week based in the office learning vital on the job training, it has created a different route into the construction industry.

Kia has also joined us from Key Training who is working towards her NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration providing support to our back of house team.

We are excited to support them on their new journeys and looking forward to seeing where their enthusiasm leads them to in the future.

We have recently started an exciting new project for the National Trust at Whitburn, not far from the lighthouse, that comprise of the removal of an existing bird ringing container and construction of a new coastal conservation centre.

The new centre will include displays showing the transformation of the North East’s coastline from a heavily polluted industrial area to the healthy landscapes and thriving natural habitats of today. The space will also be used to deliver events and activities and to help raise awareness of marine conservation issues.

To date we have cleared the site, installed new retaining wall gabions and installed the concrete piles, works are now ongoing to install the foundations and slabs which have a very futuristic design which when completed appear to show the building flying out of the ground towards the sea.

The team are looking forward to working with the clients team to add another excellent resource for the local community to continue with the conservation works in the area.
