AirlinePrep’s Top Tips for Competency Based Interviews.
Today’s top tip: When answering competency questions utilise the STAR format.
Situation & Task: Clear and concise, give context so the interviewer understands the actions you take.
Actions: This is where you evidence the competencies.
Result: This is where you tell the interviewer you met your stated objectives. The outcome must be positive.
Also, with result, if you can, Relate it to the company you are applying to, for example align it to the company values.
With any answer, although the outcome was positive, if you learnt something or would do anything differently then you should outline that to the interviewer.
Having helped thousands of pilots & cadets achieve success at interview since 2012, we have a wealth of experience in helping you achieve your dream job.
