As we start work again at Dorsuite in 2023, we are freshly reminded of the great result of our final fire test of 2022. On Friday the 23rd, we tested this huge pair of FD60 double action doors on floor springs – leaves 2.65m high and 1m wide with flush glazing, grooved details in the faces and a very tall sidelight. A phenomenal result with no failure until 73 minutes – in excess of 20% overrun! This is a regular request with architects wanting to open up corridors to the max by using huge double-action mid-corridor doors. Not many have primary evidence to support this, though. Well done to all involved.

Our team had an exciting Saturday last week at Islington Council’s ‘Resident Estate Fun Day’, where we participated in a buzzing social day with local residents. Filled with Bouncy Castles, food, face-painting, sponge-throwing (mainly directed at Mike Rennie) more food and a DJ!

Everyone clearly had lots of fun, but it was just as important to reinforce the collaborative message of fire safety, that was further emphasised with the presence of the London Fire Brigade.

We were honoured to have time with The Mayor of Islington Council and some of Islington’s Councillors, who came to the event to hear first-hand about the fire safety works that DorSuite and the partnership have delivered across the borough in the past 2 years.

What an evening! We are very proud to have sponsored the Robertson Outstanding Contribution Awards (ROCAs) 2022 for the category of ‘Team of the Year’, held last week at The Event Complex Aberdeen (TECA). We are very pleased to announce yet another completed fire test that we ran last week at United Kingdom Testing and Certification as part of our intensive ongoing accreditation development.

This 30 minute test passed successfully with a 33% overrun, which sees additional doorsets from DorSuite’s Hall & Tawse Collection further obtain bi-directional primary test evidence. The extreme contrast from the exposed side to the outer side effectively emphasises the pivotal role these doors have as a life-saving device.
