Another classic in the workshop đź”§

This Ferrari 246 Dino cylinder block came to us for a full refresh. We started with a caustic dip to completely strip it back, then carried out precision boring, honing, and decking.

A key part of the job was addressing the loose main caps — we carefully corrected the main bore to restore perfect alignment and ensure long-term reliability.

It’s all about precision and care when working on engines of this calibre.

A rebuild from last year — this Lotus Twin Cam was machined to perfection in-house and lightly upgraded to a fast road specification.

The brief was simple: retain the character and feel of a standard engine, but deliver performance that wouldn’t feel underwhelming compared to a modern daily driver. Careful machining and subtle upgrades allowed us to strike that balance perfectly.

A great example of how the right approach can bring classic engines up to modern expectations, without losing what makes them special.

Our latest addition to the workshop — the XYZ RMX 5000 in action machining a Ferrari V12 cylinder block.

Ferrari 288 GTO cylinder heads đź”§

A recent job through the workshop — these extremely rare heads have been fully overhauled in-house, with no corners cut. We even took the time to re-machine the squish areas back into the heads, returning them to exactly how they left the factory.

This is the level of detail we believe every job deserves, whether it’s a one-off classic or a modern performance engine.

We would like to sincerely apologise for the excessive lead times experienced over the past couple of months.

To minimise any further impact on our current and existing customers, we made the decision to temporarily stop taking on new customers. This has allowed us to focus fully on delivering the level of service and turnaround that our customers expect from David Moore Engineering.

We are pleased to say that we feel we are now over the worst of this situation. During this time, we have implemented significant changes to improve our workflow capacity and overall efficiency, helping to ensure a smoother process and a better experience for both our current and future customers.

We hope to be in a position to open our doors to new customers again in the not too distant future.
