Another successful agitator replacement completed for a returning client

Our team delivered the full package of supply, installation, fault finding and system optimisation works on 3 submersible agitators within the primary digester.

Works included:

🔧 Replacement of 3 agitators
🔧 Installation of new stainless steel winch cables
🔧 Gas leak prevention and sealing repairs
🔧 Electrical fault finding and soft starter replacement
🔧 Phase rotation checks and full functional testing

A key issue identified was that the original mixers were positioned in different directions, causing poor circulation and inefficient mixing. The new setup now provides a consistent anti-clockwise flow, significantly improving mixing performance around the tank.

Acting as Principal Contractor, we managed the project from initial site setup through to testing, commissioning, and final handover, ensuring all works were completed safely and efficiently 👷‍♂️✅

Last week saw our team completing critical maintenance work on a customer’s digester system, focused on improving mixing efficiency, reliability, and overall flow performance.

🔧 Works included:
✅ Replacing two Steverding shaft mixers, including new mechanical seals and bearings, before refitting the couplings, motors, and gearboxes
✅ Replacing the mechanical seal and bearing on the final mixer, alongside installing new paddles and paddle arms after discovering severe wear caused by reverse running
✅ Reversing all hydromixer paddles to optimise tank circulation and improve flow from the pump inlet to the outlet pump
✅ Inspecting outlet pump pipework and identifying significant silt build-up affecting pipe alignment and surrounding infrastructure

Another strong example of proactive maintenance helping to extend asset life, improve process performance, and identify issues before they become critical. 👏

🔍 From Inspection to Full System Reliability ⚙️

Our valued customer called us in to carry out an investigation around their mixing system.

Following the initial inspection, we removed solids accumulation from around the system before progressing into a comprehensive service. This included the removal and overhaul of the discharge, vertical, and infeed augers, replacement of key components such as bearings, seals, gearboxes and motors, along with targeted reinforcement and welding works where corrosion had impacted integrity.

The system was then fully resealed, recommissioned, and functionally tested under load to confirm correct operation.

A solid example of planned works carried through properly to ensure performance, not just a short-term fix.

We’ve recently completed a project involving the fabrication and installation of a 4” stainless steel pipe run 👇

This work created a new connection from the client’s glycerol tank to a roadside hook-up for product distribution.

By maximising off-site fabrication, we kept on-site works efficient and downtime to a minimum—maintaining momentum across both phases of the project.
