So today is the day!

We are announcing the winner of our “Top-Tip” for saving energy contest.

We'd like to say a big thanks to everyone for participating!

It has been a great pleasure receiving your Tips” for saving energy and helping us raise awareness that you can make small changes at home not only to save money but also to cut down on your carbon footprint.

And now we'd like to congratulate Becki Johnson who was selected at random with the comment picker tool.

Becki's 'Top Tip' was to suggest you turn down your thermostat.

Becki said whilst doing it herself she was so shocked at the results and learned that turning down the thermostat down by just 1 degree she had saved 10% on her heating bills! And that you really don't notice the 1 degree change.

AMAZING!!!

So remember guys you save you as much as 10% a year on your heating bills simply by turning down your thermostat and you don’t really notice that 1 degree!

The Government has confirmed it is extending the deadline for applications to the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme by a year.

The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) is a UK Government scheme set up to encourage homeowners to use renewable heat technologies by rewarding them with a payment of upto £9,100 over 7 years*.

Renewable energy sources provided more electricity to UK homes and businesses than fossil fuels for the first time over the last quarter, according to new research.

The renewables record was set in the third quarter of this year after its share of the electricity mix rose to 40%.

It is the first time that electricity from British windfarms, solar panels and renewable biomass plants has surpassed fossil fuels since the UK’s first power plant fired up in 1882.

The new milestone confirms predictions made by National Grid that 2019 will be the first year since the Industrial Revolution that zero-carbon electricity – renewables and nuclear – overtakes gas and coal-fired power.
