👀 WE’RE ON THE LOOKOUT 👀

Grimsby Community Energy is looking for someone friendly, confident and chatty to join us on a short-term basis this summer ☀️

📍 Initially around 50 hours over 2 weeks
📍 Followed by a further 5–15 hours in July

Before anyone asks… this is NOT a sales role ❌

You’ll simply be out and about speaking to local residents on the East Marsh about solar energy, listening to their thoughts, and letting people know about possible future support available to local households.

Think community conversations rather than cold calling ☕🏠

Perfect for someone who:
✅ Enjoys talking to people
✅ Is approachable and reliable
✅ Wants to support positive local projects
✅ Knows the East Marsh area (helpful but not essential)

Interested or know someone who might be a good fit?
Drop us a message or email us at [email protected]

People across Grimsby are being invited to become Decision Makers and help decide which community ideas receive support through the first testing phase of Grimsby’s future Growing Together Fund.

Through the Give it a Go fund, people that live or work in Grimsby can apply for grants of up to £10,000 to test, start or spark something new in the town.

Ideas are welcome across a wide range of themes, including community activity, arts and culture, education, environment, health, employment, housing and more.

But this is not just about funding.

Local people are also being invited to become Decision Makers, helping to review shortlisted ideas and recommend which projects receive support.

No previous experience is needed. The aim is to bring together a real cross-section of Grimsby, with different ages, backgrounds, experiences and parts of town represented.

You can apply to become a Decision Maker and help decide which local ideas are backed, or apply for funding if you have an idea that could make a difference in the town via the dedicated website. Applications for both routes are open until Friday 5 June 2026.

Give it a Go is the start of a shared learning phase. It will help test how community decision-making can work fairly and transparently, while backing practical local action now.

The Growing Together Fund is being developed from the work that has taken place through Grimsby Together, with local people helping to shape priorities for the town’s future.

At its heart is a simple idea:

Back people to shape the future of their hometown.

Another fantastic local solar project is underway! ☀️

Grimsby Community Energy Managing Director Dr Vicky Dunn visited Centre4
in Grimsby as work begins on a brand-new 115.2kW solar PV installation.

The system is being delivered by local installer RSUK Group and will help Centre4 reduce energy costs and carbon emissions while supporting a more sustainable future for the community.

Projects like this show what can happen when local organisations work together to create practical community-led climate action. 🌍

We’re incredibly proud to have received the Environmental Award at this year’s North East Lincolnshire Civic Awards. 🌱

A huge thank you to North East Lincolnshire Council for hosting such a positive and inspiring evening at Grimsby Town Hall — and congratulations to all of the other nominees and winners who are making a real difference across our communities.

This award reflects the collective effort of our team, our partners, and the many local people and organisations who have supported community energy over the past ten years. From installing solar on local buildings to developing new projects that keep energy benefits in Grimsby, this is very much a shared achievement.

We’ll take this as encouragement to keep going — there’s still plenty more to do.
