If helium (or lack of) is on your mind – we have the solution... Small Animal 1.5T MRI.

To produce images of the best quality, MRI scanners utilise liquid helium to cool the magnet and create a super-conducting magnet. To achieve the same result without helium, Hallmarq’s Zero-Helium 1.5T small animal MRI system uses a new conduction-based cooling system in a strong vacuum. The need for helium, quench pipe, oxygen monitor, or additional power is eliminated. The result? An environmentally-friendly solution that reduces the upfront and ongoing costs of offering veterinary MRI services to your patients.

Future-proof your practice with Zero-Helium 1.5T small animal MRI, only from Hallmarq.

Our new SEEMORE Technology now goes way beyond what you're used to 👀

For years, standing MRI above the foot was filed under "not worth it" — too much motion, too long a scan, too variable a result. That's no longer true. With Hallmarq's new iNAV motion-correction and pAICE image-enhancement technology, diagnostic-quality imaging of the proximal limb is now a realistic option — on the same standing MRI hardware, through the same referral pathway you already use. We've made a guide to all things veterinary CT so you have it all in one place! Join us over on our blog where we look at CT as an invaluable modality for equine practice and the diagnosis of complex conditions >> https://okt.to/RhlEKA

Veterinary CT offers detailed imaging for precise diagnosis of tumors, fractures, and more, enhancing treatment and care efficiency.

In this case study, we take an in depth look at a long medial collateral ligament injury of the fetlock joint with associated injury of the medial condyle of the third tarsal bone. In addition to detail obtained from ultrasonographic and radiographic findings, standing MRI enabled a comprehensive assessment of the pathology, adding to the information and allowing a more informed assessment of prognosis.

Thanks to B&W Equine Hospital for this case.

The helium shortage isn’t theoretical. It’s playing out in real time, with hospitals and imaging centres in both human and veterinary medicine facing supply constraints, delayed refills and cost increases they hadn’t anticipated.

Veterinary practices are particularly vulnerable and a practice that can’t access helium faces a choice between an MRI machine sitting idle or paying whatever the market demands to keep it running.

Exposure to helium shortages is not limited to smaller or less well‑resourced operators. Current analysis confirms that any practice running a conventional high‑field MRI system remains dependent on external helium supply. This exposure means vulnerability to the same availability risks, regardless of scale, planning or historic purchasing arrangements.

Hallmarq’s zero-helium technology removes that vulnerability entirely. Whether the current disruption resolves quickly or persists for months, Hallmarq customers are not affected.

Attention referring vets 👋

You’ve worked the case up, localised the lameness and decided that standing MRI is the sensible next step. For many referring vets, that’s the point where a few practical questions surface and, sometimes, a quieter one underneath them all: what happens to my patient and my relationship with this client once I hand them over?

Referring a horse for standing MRI is not a handover of care. It’s a short, defined loan of your patient to a specialist facility for one purpose – a definitive diagnosis – after which the horse comes back to you with a treatment plan that you’ve helped shape.

This guide walks through exactly what happens from the moment you make the referral, to the moment the report lands, so you can refer with confidence and set your client’s expectations accurately.

When a horse is lame, MRI isn't always the first imaging option horse owners think of. But could it provide answers that other modalities miss?

Join us as we explore why MRI remains underutilised in lameness investigations and the role it can play in helping clinicians better understand the underlying pathology. >> https://okt.to/1KWDEy
