Commercial property continues to evolve, and existing buildings have a major role to play.

As occupiers look for better-performing spaces and refurbishment activity grows, owners are increasingly focused on how to unlock more value from their assets.

For retrofit, redevelopment, refurbishment or change of use, accurate building data is a smart place to start.

Our RICS-compliant measured building surveys give property and construction teams the detail they need to plan with confidence.

Great to be at Guildford County School recently for their Careers Fair, where our team had the chance to showcase the surveying industry and talk to students about careers in geospatial and construction technology.

Paul Pettifer, Nat Collyer, Sai Krishna Ambati and George Hezzell attended with a Leica TS16 and RTC360, giving students a look at modern surveying and reality capture technology.

Thanks to Guildford County School for having us!

This Mental Health Awareness Week (11th–17th May), we’d like highlight something that truly matters to us as a business – the wellbeing of our people.

At Technics and Earth Environmental & Geotechnical Ltd, we’re committed to creating a supportive and open culture, where mental health is taken seriously. That’s why we have a dedicated Mental Health First Aider, Andrew Overington, who is there to support our team whenever they need it.

Whether it’s offering a listening ear, guidance or simply helping to start important conversations, having that support in place is just one of the ways we prioritise our people.

Here’s a nice photo of Andrew and his dog, Max.

The UK Government says AI Growth Zones will be among the country’s largest infrastructure projects between 2025 and 2030, with the potential to unlock up to £100bn of additional investment.

That points to growing demand for digital infrastructure and increasing pressure on project teams to deliver complex, high-value data centre projects safely, efficiently and at pace.

As demand rises, so does the need for reliable site information before construction begins.

Technics can support project teams by locating, mapping and modelling underground utilities, site features and ground conditions before works start. This gives clients clearer information to support design, reduce risk, plan safer works and avoid costly surprises during construction.

In a sector where delays can be costly, getting the right insight early matters.

Every site has four critical realities.

What it looks like.
What’s built on it.
What’s beneath it.
And how the ground behaves.

Topographical surveys define the visible levels, features, boundaries and access.

Measured building surveys and 3D laser scanning capture accurate existing structures and spatial detail.

Underground utility mapping reveals hidden infrastructure including cables, pipes and constraints.

Geotechnical surveys uncover ground conditions such as soil, stability, contamination and groundwater.

Each one answers a different question and missing any one of them is where problems start.

➡️ Incomplete data
➡️ Design assumptions
➡️ Delays, rework, and risk

The most successful projects start with complete site intelligence - above ground, built environment, below ground and within the ground.

No gaps. No assumptions. No surprises.
