Let’s talk paperwork and its importance in a EPC assessment and major don’ts when it comes to energy efficiency.

I was Assessing a property the other day and the customer was so organised.

They had paperwork from all energy efficiency upgrades to his property cav wall insulation, fensa cert etc, which is really important as if we can’t evidence it as assessors we can’t include it in our report.

I thought this is going to be a good assessment…. Fast forward 10 minutes later and I notice the customer had removed the fixed heating system and was now heating their property with portable plug in electric heaters all whilst being on a single rate tariff. This instantly plummeted their previous C grade to an F grade score.

I then asked him straight away when I saw this how much his electric bill was and wow it was ridiculously high.

So, if you are looking to make changes to your property with things related to energy efficiency. Please seek advice off of a trained energy assessor otherwise it could cost you a lot in the long run.
