This garage project is coming along really well. We have made every stone used from larger boulders and rubble which was dug up on site from a previous project. A lot of work but we are very happy with the results.

Rammed earth sample panel carried out for a client.

Rammed earth is and aesthetically beautiful building material as well as low impact and sustainable. It can be built using the earth directly from the site of the build, with some added sand and binder.

This panel used various clays and sands from the site and these were mixed in various combinations to create the beautiful stratification.

When used in buildings it can provide extra thermal mass and moisture control to provide a more stable and pleasant internal building environment.

As well as our lime and clay based works we also carry out retrofit insulation installations. we carry out this work not just on historic solid wall properties but also modern buildings for ecological or health conscious clients.

We install a number of systems including:

- wood fibre boards
-studwork with natural fibre insulation and wood wool boards
-insulating lime plaster systems.

all beautifully finished with lime or clay plaster to allow your old building to work as it should an breathe.

We also provide vapour permeable air tightness works and so much more. We carry out all design and specification works or can work with your existing designer/architect.

The layers of different systems attempted on this property to alleviate damp was mystifying. The one thing they didn't try was removing the cement pointing thinly smeared into the joints on the external.

With that carefully removed from the brickwork, with the lime underneath still in amazing condition, we set about replastering the internal walls with insulating cork render and finished with an NHL topcoat from EWI PRO.

We also reflaunched the chimney and did some repairs to some brickwork on the externals.

Insulating cork plaster used in a cold bathroom of a 17th century farmhouse. The bathroom was a modern extension but was the coldest part of the house 🤷🏻‍♂️. This product was chosen by the client so that no space was lost in the bathroom and the plasterwork matched the aesthetic of the rest of the house.

We finished with a through colour NHL top coat.
