Last one for today, I'm off pedalling soon.

An impromptu engine stand for my Ducati, made within an hour from scraps and short ends in the workshop, summer 2013. It actually works very well. The wooden baseplate is long and strong so that the entire bike can be lifted on the sump, in balance with a trolley jack and moved around.....the black fitting is part of my engine tuning stand and the engine is held very securely on that for routine or deeper maintenance work.

Last pic shows it in use on your standard asda abandoned shopping trolley :)

I can do replicas quite quickly if anyone needs one. Or for other bikes.....what ever......

On a bit of a roll today for posting. Well, it is Bank Holiday Monday, it is raining and the telly is.......... :)

A bit of a simple repair job at home from last year. Bath edge tiles have been broken for a while, substructure of timber was breaking up. Any sort of tile repair was out of the question short of re-tiling the whole bathroom so.........a nicely executed bit of wood work saved the day. Wood screws, silicon mastic, some 12mm ply and a rendering of wood stain made a fine, safe repair. Every little helps!

At the local club, the dray wagon managed to reverse into and destroy the lower level handrails, wrenching the support uprights out of their concrete fixings. Bottom eight feet of handrail, both uprights and spacer support bars all needed replacing. Upper flight of treads needed some new chequer plate as they were rotten through.

Bit of "meccano" style construction, some site welding and a bit of masonry work soon cured it. Quite enjoyed this one and the results.

Right, a few more posts to get up to speed. Recent gate and posts fitted here in town. Existing posts incorporated into the new ones for convenience and strength. A fair bit of drilling through old steel supports at step sizes 5mm pilot, then 8, 10, 12.1 to get through with 12mm long reach masonry drill to fit thunder bolts to wall. Shown in first pic. Pics two and three show gate unpainted in position for final drilling and set up. Four and five show details of construction.

Found some more recent stuff, this was done about Jan 2014. Shop fitting for the guy who started a new bike shop. Counters, work bench, tool board, slat wall fittings, new door and window security grilles made. Not all photos will transfer from my phone for some reason but you get the idea I hope.

A bit of a blast from the past, but again worth including here. Home improvements with style.

Two rooms, same project, both mezzanines. The stainless railings/balustrades I made and installed. All materials sourced and purchased locally, self constructed and taken off to site for installation. Handrails of hardwood fitted later.

The spirals were bought in as a kit from Italy but they needed assembly and installation, site prepared beforehand, holes cut and so on. They were a nightmare TBH.

End result was spectacular. Minstrels Gallery anyone? Juliet Balcony? Just ask me :)
