The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government's 'Construction Products Reform Green Paper' was published this week (26th February). This consultation is the GOV.UK's response to the Grenfell Inquiry, along with their commitment to follow up the 58 recommendations of the Inquiry's final report. To view the paper visit:

The Green Paper makes clear the main issues relate to problems concerning residential facade cladding and insulation, and significant failings in regulatory guidance concerning the spread of fire, facade systems and combustibility testing, along with some aspects of a building system, the Government contends, puts profit before people.
Many in the materials industry will be concerned that the undoubted examples of good practice that do definitely exist are properly acknowledged, and not thrown out along with the bad in the major reforms that are planned. As a united voice for the bespoke industry, the Architectural And Specialist Door Manufacturers Association will be preparing a response to the consultation that represents the views of our members.
We especially wish to emphasise that the established third-party product and process certification processes (TPPPC) followed by the UK's specialist bespoke fire door manufacturing sector already provides assured levels of information and performance declarations that more than satisfy the Government's primary aims in those respects.
