This one has moved on well since the last update!

The early structural works are now complete, and we’ve moved into the internal phase with the underfloor heating going in and the stud walls being formed on the first floor. Outside, the roof is on and tiling is underway, bringing the externals one step closer to completion.

From before to now, the outside of this house has changed completely.

What was once a rear elevation that stepped in has now been squared off and extended, giving the property a far stronger shape overall. Phase one saw the timber frame extension go up, with the main roof, vertical tiling and Juliet balcony all helping establish the new form. Phase two then carried that through by extending the east elevation and bringing the whole rear of the house together properly!

With phase one now almost complete, work has started on phase two.

This next stage centres on the barn renovation, which will create a new open-plan kitchen area and continue the improvement of the property as a whole. The porch is being demolished, the side wall will be opened up, new windows installed, and brickwork repairs and repointing carried out to bring the existing structure up properly. To the rear, a new patio and walkway will also be going in as part of the external works.

Looking forward to getting stuck into phase two of this extensive project!

A finished look inside this cottage renovation.

The additional space created through the extension has changed the house completely, giving it better proportions, a stronger layout and a much more settled feel throughout. Upstairs, the new bedrooms, bathroom, en suite and bespoke storage have all come together well, while downstairs the kitchen, utility and living spaces now feel well put together.

From where this started to where it is now, the change is already clear.

The old conservatory has gone, the new extension is up, and the roof is now on and complete. What was once a separate and dated part of the house is now being replaced with a structure that will connect back into the main property and change how the ground floor works.

There is still more structural work to do, with the next step being the knock-through from the existing kitchen and ground floor W/C into the new space. A good point in the build to look back on, with the next phase set to make a real difference.

The external side of this project is now nearly there.

The driveway is down, and the garden areas have been seeded ready to establish with the warmer weather on the horizon! The car barn is also into its final stages now, with the last finishes being worked through as the outside of the property catches up with the work inside.

A lot has changed on this one, and it is now very close to being fully wrapped up.

With phase one coming to an end, it's great to look back at the early stages and see how this project has changed so far...

With phase one coming to an end, it's great to look back at the early stages and see how this project has changed so far! The new two-storey extension has completely altered the shape of the house, adding a lot more presence and sitting far better with the existing property now it’s all together. What was there before feels a long way off once you see it as it stands now.

A good stage of the overall project to get over the line, and a strong base for phase two to build on.
