Roof of the week.

Full re-roof, slate down, ridge on, scaffold away. Nothing left to do to it for a very long time.

Best part of this job is the view you get while you're up there. You forget you're at work for about ten seconds.

Nobody's ever seen their own roof properly.

You get it from the pavement, at an angle, from about thirty feet below it. That's the only view you'll ever have of it.

This is what it actually looks like from above. All that different-coloured slate is patch repairs, done a few at a time over the years, none of them matching, because somebody was up there after a storm putting a handful back on.

That's not a fix, it's a holding pattern. Once you can see the whole thing at once it's obvious.

We fly the drone over every job before we start. Costs nothing and it tells you more than an hour on a ladder.
