February is a great time to renovate overgrown hedges before bird nesting season starts.

Hard cutbacks can be quite unsightly and the benefit of doing it over the next month is it gets them back to a manageable size and the new spring growth rapidly restores the look of the hedge.

Great time to cut back where they overhang pavements too

The capping on a wall is constantly exposed to the elements and it is there to protect the rest of the wall. If it’s damaged or missing (something we see regularly) it allows water in and this is especially detrimental over winter as the freezing and thawing action works to damage the wall further. As always early action can prevent a much larger problem from occurring and costs much less.
The same thing happens with cracks in render, the water gets behind and the render, over time, becomes detached from the wall.

Make sure you’re watertight before winter sets in
