Today, is National Fitness Day UK 2025.

The national event, organised by ukactive, has the theme 'Powered by you!' The aim of the day is to empower individuals to make positive lifestyle changes for improved physical, mental and social health.

So how can workplaces support their team in prioritising their health and fitness and why is it our responsibility?

Workplaces should support National Fitness Day because it leads to a healthier, more productive, and happier workforce, ultimately benefiting both employees and the business. Encouraging physical activity can boost employee energy, focus, and cognitive function, leading to better work performance. It also reduces stress and improves mental well-being, lowers absenteeism due to fewer sick days, and increases employee morale and retention.

Here at Geosynthetics Ltd we prioritise our teams wellbeing with schemes such as yoga classes hosted in the office, zumba sessions put on by our team for our team and pilates with local class Saxon Fitness. Alongside our standing desk which is available for the full team to use when they want a more active working session.

Prioritise your teams wellbeing and build a happier workforce.

Today, is the International Day Of Charity 2025.

Established by the United Nations, this day serves as a reminder of the critical role that charity plays. The day encourages everyone to participate in charitable efforts, whether through donations, volunteering, or simply spreading awareness.

Here at Geosynthetics Ltd charity and community are at the heart of everything we do. With our Annual Hansam Fundraiser soon approaching next month, the office is keeping busy with coming up with new ways to raise money and spread awareness with quizzes, raffles, 100 mile runs and zumbathons all in the mix. All for this years charity of choice; Mencap.

Mencap Hinckley is run by volunteers who organise social events and provide support for people with learning and physical disabilities.

Our annual fundraiser day will take place on the 31st October 2025. These days are only a huge success thank to the support of other companies, customers and suppliers supporting our efforts -

This morning, Managing Director Tracy Woods, Operations Manager Melissa Davison, and Senior Management Assistant Mary-Jane Warwick visited our charity for this year's annual fundraiser, Mencap Hinckley. They were given a tour of their facilities, charity shop and had the opportunity to meet some of their dedicated volunteers.

Mencap Hinckley is run by volunteers who organise social events and provide support for people with learning and physical disabilities.

Every year Geosynthetics Ltd and Stormwater Management Ltd host our Hansam annual fundraiser day, with the main aim being to raise as much money as we possibly can for the nominated charity. Through our Hansam Fundraiser we have raised tens of thousands of pounds for some excellent charities close to the hearts of our team.

This year, it was Mary-Jane Warwick who nominated Mencap. Mary-Jane said 'I nominated this charity because of the incredible support they've provided to my brother, James, as well as many of our family and friends over the years. I'm so grateful the company chose to support them.'

I'm excited to see what our amazing team at Geosynthetics Limited and Stormwater Management Ltd achieves for this fantastic charity this year!

Our annual fundraiser day will take place on the 31st October 2025. These days are only a huge success thank to the support of other companies, customers and suppliers supporting our efforts -

On Saturday, 3 of our incredible team completed the Mighty Hike for MacMillan in the Peak District walking a whopping 26.5 miles!

We are so proud of them for pushing through the pain barrier and completing this gruelling challenge, it took almost 12 hours! Such perseverance!

Please check out Charlotte's post below and if you could spare any money to help them raise some extra funds for this wonderful charity we'd be very grateful.

HUGE WELL DONE ladies! We are so proud of you 💚

"On Saturday, me and 2 amazing ladies walked 26.5 miles and completed the Mighty Hike for MacMillan in the Peak District.

One of the most hardest, challenging but most rewarding thing I have ever done and I’ve had 3 children!

A LOT of tears and almost coming close to stopping half way, I’m so proud to say that we completed it.

So much love and support the whole way round and I could not have done it without the amazing ladies I had the privilege to walk with and we have raised an great amount for a fantastic charity! 💚

There’s still time to donate, see my link below. Thank you! 💚"

Hansam Annual Fundraiser – Charity Announcement

Geosynthetics Ltd are proud to announce that the charity that we will be sponsoring in this year’s Hansam Annual Fundraising Day will be… Hinckley & District Mencap Society. This is a worthwhile cause that will be joining the likes of; Menphys Children’s Charity, Georgie’s Gift, Adapt, Air Ambulance & 4Louis who are just a few local charites that we have previously supported.

Hinckley & District Mencap Society, provides support and social activities for adults with learning disabilities in the Hinckley and Bosworth area. This charity was recommended by Mary Jane Warwick. Her brother, who has physical and mental learning disabilities, previously attended the charity's clubs. The charity has provided significant support to her family and many families close to them over the years.

With our Annual Fundraising Day taking place on 31st October 2025. the hard work begins now in planning the fantastic day that we have ahead. The theme has already been decided as ‘Anything Beginning with M’ and the team will be dressing up and taking part in a variety of fun filled games throughout the day. The day will be rounded off with the hotly contested Annual Hansam Quiz and excellent raffle.

However, this day would not be possible with out the amazing support we receive from local businesses, employees and suppliers. The generosity and kind heartedness that you have shown through our previous fundraisers has been nothing short of phenomenal and we are sure it will continue this year. In return for your generosity we will be featuring links to the supporting companies on our website and promoting on LinkedIn and Facebook.

We as a team are passionate about making a difference for Mencap Hinckley. We're hoping you can help by contributing either monetary donations or prizes for our annual raffle, as we aim to raise significant funds and awareness.

If you require any more information or would like to get involved please contact Mary Jane on 01455 617139 or [email protected].

🌟 Celebrating Our Work Experience Student - Alfie Crow 🌟
We've had the pleasure of hosting Alfie from The Hinckley School / John Cleveland College for a fantastic three-day work experience placement with our engineering team at Geosynthetics.

It's been wonderful to see Alfie's genuine enthusiasm for engineering and his curiosity about our industry. During his time with us, he:
✅ Shadowed different teams across our organisation
✅ Learned about technical calculations, including how we determine lake surface areas and product requirements
✅ Gained hands-on insight into real engineering projects
✅ Demonstrated excellent engagement and asked thoughtful questions

Alfie's positive attitude and eagerness to learn made him a joy to work with. It's inspiring to meet young people who are passionate about pursuing engineering careers - they represent the future of our industry!

Thank you to Alfie for choosing to spend his work experience with us, and to The Hinckley School / John Cleveland College for their continued partnership in providing these valuable opportunities.

We wish Alfie all the best in his future studies and potential engineering career! 🚀

Supporting those who matter most to our team 💙

We're incredibly proud to announce our support for 4Louis, a UK charity supporting families through miscarriage, stillbirth and child loss. As part of our commitment, we've donated a 'cuddle blanket' to help families in their most difficult moments. We're delighted it went to UHCW University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust.

This cause is particularly close to our Operations Manager Melissa Davison's heart, and we're honoured she's chosen to share her story with us.

"4Louis is close to mine and my family's hearts. In 2021, during one of the most difficult times in our lives, we lost our beautiful daughter Emily Jayne at 20 weeks. In those heartbreaking moments at the hospital, a midwife brought us a small box from 4Louis.
That tiny box contained some of my most precious belongings - beautiful teddies, a recognition of life certificate, and the book 'P.S. I Love You' (which I now read to my children in memory). These tangible gifts were vital for both our physical and mental health during such a devastating time."

4Louis provides crucial support through memory boxes and specialised equipment like CuddleCots and cuddle blankets. These cuddle blankets offer bereaved parents precious extra time with their babies, providing comfort and allowing families to create lasting memories in those irreplaceable moments together. The blankets help maintain dignity whilst giving parents the gift of time - something that can never be replaced but is desperately needed for the grieving process.

Baby loss is a difficult topic - difficult to discuss, read about, and certainly to live through. But it's important we break the silence and say these babies' names. Emily Jayne Davison will always be remembered.

We're proud to support such a vital charity and raise awareness of their incredible work. Sometimes the smallest gestures create the most lasting memories.

Pictured with the donated cuddle blanket are (l to r) Tracy Woods (our MD), Amy Roberts (Paediatric and Neonatal Resuscitation Lead Practitioner at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust, Melissa Davison (our Ops Manager) and Mary Jane Warwick (our Senior Manager Assistant).

28/10/2024

After months of build up with various fundraising activities the day of the Hansam Annual Fundraiser Day 2024 took place on Friday, for this years chosen charity of 4Louis.

Each year the Geosynthetics Ltd and Stormwater Management Ltd teams get involved with a huge fundraising effort for a charity that is picked from team nominations. There is always a number of activities in the run up to big fundraiser day to raise donations and awareness. On the day itself the teams get involved in team games, tombola, the Hansam raffle and the annual Hansam Quiz. Of course, we can’t miss out each year there is also the management challenge - where volunteers from the management team face a bidding war to see who will be on the receiving end of a GUNGE!

This year the team have all really got involved in the fundraising effort bringing their own ideas that they have seen through from start to finish for raising money in the run up to the day - just to list a few we have had; a quiz night, pet portrait photography, balloon popping game with prizes to be won, furniture sale, homegrown pickles for a pound and a variety of Friday lunches prepared and served by different members such as Jacket Potatoes, Crepes & Pork Cobs.

On top of this volunteers from the team have also got involved in our Zumba-Thon where they faced a 2 and a half hour long non-stop high energy zumba class ran by 6 volunteer instructors from the local community.

Friday, the team got involved with water gargling singing, crazy dancing, riddle chasing & more! It was great to see a huge effort from the team not only with their energy and commitment to the day but with those fantastic fancy dress outfits for the Geo Book Day Theme!

Also, after a bidding war between Business Development Manager Gordon Trehy and Sales Manager Adam Brown, it was Gordon who received this year’s GUNGE! Adam didn’t quite escape the punishment though...

All of the above has been in the name of 4Louis: 4Louis is a UK charity that works across the country to support anyone affected by miscarriage, stillbirth and the death of a baby or child. They also work to improve the care bereaved families receive from health care and other professionals. They provide memory boxes filled with keepsakes and mementos to help families create lasting memories of their loved one. They also provide useful tools, equipment, and training free of charge to hospital units, hospices, and other professionals who work with grieving families.

We couldn’t do this each year without the kindness and support from not only our team but the whole of the local community and business’ that get involved whether thats through donating, getting involved with activities, donating prizes or volunteering their time. Thank you!

With all that said It is our pleasure to announce that the Hansam Group with your support has raised a huge......£6,000! Which our Chairman Chris Foxton has generously doubled to make a grand total of £12,000. We are so grateful for everyone who has been behind this day and we are so pleased to of raised such an impactful amount of money to support the fantastic, beautiful charity that is 4Louis!

Keep an eye on our social pages as we will be updated with some fantastic photos of the team on the day and exclusive footage of the GUNGE!
