🔥 “More than just stove installers…” 🔥

We’ve just wrapped up a cracking job — full media wall along with two stoves installed, and what a transformation it’s turned out to be.

Wasn’t just a case of fitting stoves either…
we sorted roofing work, moved electrics, got the plastering done — the lot. All handled by us, all done properly.

But the bit we’re most proud of… is what happens after we’ve packed up.
Nice to know the aftercare’s hitting the mark too 👍

Aside from tackling the stoves, Paul and Adam had to do roof work (tiles etc), move electrical points, plastering and other jobs whilst they were here. All of this was done to an excellent standard. 🔥 Burn smart. Burn clean. 🔥

If you’re using a wood-burning stove, a few simple habits make a big difference to heat, smoke levels, and the life of your chimney.

✅ Choose a modern, cleaner-burning stove
✅ Keep a steady, active burn (avoid slumbering)

🎄 That’s us done for year! 🎄

Just a quick un to say a massive thank you to all our customers for support this year – we really do appreciate it.

We’re finished up now for Christmas and will be tekkin a short break, spendin time wi’ family and gettin ready to crack on again in t’New Year.

We’ll be back after Christmas, refreshed and ready to get stuck in.

Lest We Forget

The bugle sounds across the green,
Where poppies bloom on fields once seen.
Young lads set off with heads held high,
Not one could know who’d live or die.

They left their homes, their mums, their mates,
To march through mud and heaven’s gates.
They fought for folk, for peace, for right,
And never flinched in darkest night.

No talk of glory filled their days,
Just duty done in quiet ways.
A letter home, a whispered prayer,
For those they loved, still waiting there.

We wear our poppies, bow our heads,
Lay wreaths of red by nameless beds.
And in that silence, hearts still ache,
For all they gave, and what’s at stake.

So raise your eyes, and hold it dear,
The freedom bought by those we revere.
Remember them, each lass and lad—
For all we’ve lost, and all we’ve had.

🔥 Another Happy Customer – Out with the Gas, In with the Glow! 🔥

We recently helped a lovely customer transform their living room from standard to stunning. They had an old gas fire sat in a marble surround — tidy enough, but it just didn’t give that real warmth or atmosphere they were after.

They asked us to remove the gas fire and replace it with a multifuel stove, giving them that proper crackling, glowing centrepiece that only a real fire can offer.

We fitted a Woodford Lowry 5 Wide, a brilliant little stove that combines efficiency with good looks, sitting beautifully on a smooth slate hearth supplied by 👌
All the flue components came from the top folk at , who always keep us stocked up with the best gear.

The marble surround was kept in place and now perfectly frames the new setup — a lovely mix of traditional and modern that really sets the room off.

It’s fair to say the customer’s over the moon with the result 🔥
Another job ticked off by the Northern Stoves lads — and another Yorkshire home made that little bit warmer 🏡

🔥 Now then… you’ll not believe what we found behind this one! 🔥

Customer got in touch sayin’ she’d inherited a stove with the house but couldn’t get it goin’ no matter what she tried. Turns out it were a “self install” (and I use that term lightly 😅) — no liner fitted, gas cowl still on top, and not even a proper chimney pot!

We dropped the rods down and found one of the biggest nests we’ve ever seen! 🪶🪵
This thing were packed solid right up the flue.

We cleared the lot out, did a pressure test (which sadly failed), so we’ll be headin’ back to line the flue and get it all sorted properly so she can finally enjoy a safe, warm fire this winter.

If you’ve moved into a house with a stove already fitted and you’re not sure it’s been done right — give us a shout. Better safe than sorry when it comes to chimneys 👍

You’ve maybe seen that report flying around saying wood burning stoves cause up to 2,500 deaths a year 😳.
Now, let’s be honest — that’s a right load of nonsense and very misleading 🤦‍♂️.

Here at Northern Stoves 🪵, we fit proper Ecodesign-ready, DEFRA-approved stoves ✅ — not the old smoky things they go on about in these reports.
Modern stoves burn cleaner 🌿, use less wood 🌲, and give off next to no smoke 💨 when they’re installed and used right 👌.

The good folks over at Charnwood 🔥 have put together a cracking article that explains what’s really going on and clears up a lot of the scare stories 💪
