A proud moment for Map Mechanical Ltd and me personally—Rory Cornelly has officially completed his apprenticeship and is now a Gas Safe registered engineer!
As a company, one of the things we’ve always valued most is the opportunity to shape careers through our apprenticeship program in partnership with Kirklees College. Some apprentices stay with us, some move on, but every one of them matters to us, and we wish them nothing but success in their future careers and personal lives.
This milestone, however, is particularly special. I’ve known Rory since he was just three years old. Having been his father’s apprentice myself, I’ve watched him grow from a cheeky little boy into a hardworking young man. While there was never any doubt that Rory would have the chance to join us for his apprenticeship, none of us could have predicted how it would go. With his father being one of the most skilled engineers I’ve worked with, Rory had some big shoes to fill—despite his dad only being 5’4” (an ironic twist!).
Throughout his apprenticeship, Rory has shown exceptional commitment, consistently striving for progress both at work and in college. He’s passed every exam, worked tirelessly, and earned his qualification as a gas engineer. Not stopping there, he’s already enrolled to train in renewable air source heat pumps, setting the stage for an exciting future in the industry.
Now, as Rory begins the next chapter of his career, we couldn’t be prouder. Congratulations, Rory, on this fantastic achievement—what a brilliant Christmas present for yourself and for all of us. We’re all cheering you on and can’t wait to see what you accomplish next!
