FREE ROCKET VISIT!

To commemorate the start of World Space Week and Starchaser's 25th year in STEM education, we are offering a free visit of our Skybolt 2 rocket exhibit to the first 25 schools who book any of our space themed workshops, science shows or presentations.

A great centerpiece for a day of enrichment / space education this nine metre rocket-ship, which will arrive on its own transporter truck, is available to schools throughout the UK.

The excitement and interest generated by having a real (previously flown) rocket arrive and then elevated to its dramatic, near vertical launch orientation, will last long after your space themed day. There’s no better way to inspire and enthuse students, make a statement in your community or create a hook for social media.

Our SPACE4SCHOOLS initiative is the UK’s leading space and rocket science outreach programme, visiting hundreds of schools each year. With over twenty years experience in delivering our unique range of interactive shows, presentations and workshops we hope to inspire the next generation of British scientists and engineers.

SPACE TEACHING RESOURCES AND ROCKET AVAILABLE TO SCHOOLS

We're about to embark on our 2023 UK wide tour of schools. In addition to delivering Skybolt 2, which is a real Starchaser rocket, first flown in 2017, we offer a range of space themed workshops, science shows and other activities in support of STEM subject areas.

Our aim is to enthuse, inspire and raise aspirations for young people, while supporting the UK National Curriculum.

Upgrading and refurbishment of our Skybolt 2 rocket including replacement fin brackets, courtesy of sponsors Grenville Engineering Ltd and Diamond Metal Finishing Co Ltd. A big thank you also to our team of volunteers for fitting the new brackets etc.

Due to continued delays regarding the transport and storage of our rocket propellant, the maiden flight of Starchaser Astra-X will now push back to the New Year.

Given that the rocket is otherwise ready to fly, this will provide us with an opportunity to further test all systems, leading to a shorter period of time between launch 1 and launch 2.

Post-flight, it may be required to recover the major components of Starchaser Astra-X from its landing area by air lift. We therefore carried out cargo net rigging tests on both the capsule and booster sections of the rocket. Many thanks to the RAF for their kind help in facilitating this.
