You know what it’s like , couple of drams later and it’s , “ O aye , I can make you whatever you want “.
This time the challenge was to, Make a stainless steel anchor ‘bout ten inches tall .
With one of my copper roses entwined with a thistle or two around the Anchor .
For me the Anchor symbolises stability , hope and strength .
With that in mind , I set about what turned out to be one of the nicest pieces I’ve done to date .

Every year they hold the Commando speed march .
7miles from Spean Bridge railway station to Achnacarry Castle .
Back in the day potential commandos arriving on the station platform , carrying 36lbs of gear , were expected to do this in under 60minutes .
I was commissioned to make a trophy to be presented to the fastest army cadet team . The brief was easy , what ever you come up with has to represent the Parachute regiment , the Gurkha regiment and of course the Royal Marine Commandos .
This is what I came up with .

Like all the jobs I do , this one had to remain a secret until it was received . A one off commission to celebrate the joining of two people .
The symbol ,cut from Slate , in the centre is call a Pikorua Double Twist and represents the joining of two people and two cultures for eternity .
