We’re proud to have two finalists at the Highlands & Islands Apprenticeship Awards 2026!

Congratulations to George Main, shortlisted for Engineering/Manufacturing Apprentice of the Year, and Abbey Yule, a finalist for the Graduate Apprenticeship Award.

After 25 years in retail, George chose to reskill as an Electrical Apprentice and has shown fantastic commitment to both his practical and academic development. His willingness to share his experience and support fellow apprentices has also made a real impact throughout his journey.

Abbey has been recognised for the high standard of support she provides across RSE, with a positive and forward-thinking approach. Beyond her day-to-day role, she has also become an important contributor to Heather's Heroes, supporting the organisation and delivery of successful fundraising events as part of the charity’s committee.

Our Treatment Solutions and Asset Management teams look forward to attending the awards and celebrating our apprentices' achievements at the Kingsmills Hotel, Inverness on Thursday the 26th of November, alongside the many other talented finalists from across the region.

RSE is also delighted to be sponsoring the SME Employer Award, celebrating businesses that are investing in apprenticeships and creating valuable career pathways for future talent.

A huge congratulations to RSE electrician Katie Munro, who has been named the SJIB Edmundson Electrical Apprentice of the Year 2026!

Katie joined RSE’s Apprenticeship Programme in 2022 and has gone from strength to strength, completing her apprenticeship with an outstanding 98.33% F**A score and gaining hands-on experience across major water infrastructure projects throughout the UK.

Earlier this year, Katie’s achievements also saw her invited to meet His Majesty The King, where she had the opportunity to speak about her role at RSE and her contribution to the water industry.

Following her award win, Katie’s supervisors made sure the celebrations continued when she returned to work, putting on a small celebration so that her fellow apprentices could share in her fantastic achievement.

Katie’s success continues a brilliant run for RSE’s Apprenticeship Programme, with an apprentice now reaching the SJIB Apprentice of the Year finals for five consecutive years.

Congratulations Katie, a thoroughly deserved achievement and a fantastic example to our current and future apprentices!

Earlier this month, a fantastic group of players from the North Hub came together at Kings Golf Club, Inverness for a charity golf day, bringing colleagues and partners from RSE, Galliford Try and Scottish Water together for a day of friendly competition and fundraising.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, an impressive £840 was raised for Snap Inverness, a charity that works to improve the lives of young people with additional needs by providing social experiences, building self-esteem, and encouraging independence.

The event was a great example of collaboration across the North Hub, with participants enjoying a successful day on the course while supporting an important local cause.

Last Friday, RSE's Asset Management team based in Cumbernauld hosted their annual Charity 5-a-side Tournament at Broadwood Stadium.

The afternoon saw seven teams compete against each other for the title, with Team Terminators being crowned this year's winners.

The tournament brought our staff together for an afternoon of friendly competition and fundraising, once again managing to raise a great amount of £500!

The total raised will be donated to Heather’s Heroes, which supports a network of charities through its match-funding initiative, enabling funds raised to be redistributed within the local Cumbernauld community.

Thank you to everyone who played, donated and cheered from the sidelines.

Last night, members of the RSE Asset Management team attended the Prosper Scot Highland Business Awards 2026 at the Drumossie Hotel in Inverness, celebrating our place as finalists in the Workforce North Award for Innovative Approach to Talent Attraction and Development.

At RSE, we're passionate about creating opportunities for people to explore and build careers in the water industry. Through our engagement with schools, colleges and universities across the UK, we support careers events, STEM activities, site visits, work experience placements and industry presentations, helping to inspire the next generation and showcase the diverse opportunities available across our business.

Our award-winning Apprenticeship Programme also provides hands-on experience, mentoring and clear progression opportunities, helping young people build long-term careers. Through our partnership with UHI Inverness, apprentices can continue their learning through Graduate Apprenticeship programmes while remaining in full-time employment, combining academic development with practical industry experience.

By creating multiple pathways into engineering and fostering continuous professional development, we're helping to build a highly skilled workforce for the future while supporting the growth of the wider engineering sector.

The team had a fantastic evening celebrating alongside businesses from across the Highlands, and we'd like to congratulate all the winners and finalists on their achievements!

RSE has welcomed more than 20 new electrical instrumentation and mechanical apprentices to our Muir of Ord production facilities, as they embark on our apprenticeship programme.

The induction day brought together our newest apprentice cohort to meet with key people who will support their development throughout the programme, including representatives from UHI Inverness who provided an insight into college life and the learning opportunities ahead.

We're also grateful to Wesco Anixter who have once again agreed to subsidise our apprentice toolkits for our new starters. Their continued support, along with a welcome visit from their team and goody bags for every apprentice, demonstrates the importance of collaboration in developing future engineering talent.

As we continue to invest in apprenticeships and graduate apprenticeship opportunities, we're proud to work alongside partners who share our commitment to developing a skilled workforce delivering innovative engineering solutions across the UK water industry.

On Friday, RSE was honoured to showcase its award-winning water treatment innovations to His Majesty The King during his visit to Dingwall as part of the town's 800th anniversary celebrations.

The King's visit brought together local businesses, community organisations, volunteers and heritage groups to mark 800 years since Dingwall was granted Royal Burgh status. We were proud to be invited to take part following our award of The King's Awards for Enterprise in Innovation in 2025, recognising more than 40 years of engineering excellence and innovation in the water industry.

During the visit, Allan Dallas and the RSE team presented our innovative modular treatment portfolio, including the m-MBBR® wastewater treatment system, m-CTU® clean water treatment solution and the Biomatrix Water floating ecosystem module, which supports nature-based water treatment and biodiversity enhancement.

As a business founded and headquartered in the Highlands, it was a privilege to highlight how RSE's solutions are helping water utilities across the UK deliver treatment infrastructure more efficiently, sustainably, and whilst supporting economic growth and skills development.

RSE's Asset Operational and Maintenance team are at this year's Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival and proud to be a part of the Workforce North Highland Future Zone in the Walled Garden, showcasing the exciting opportunities available within the water industry.

Day one has been a fantastic opportunity to meet festival-goers, inspire the next generation and demonstrate how engineering plays a vital role in delivering clean water and protecting the environment. Visitors have been getting hands-on with our interactive STEM activities, including a working water treatment rig and a live pump demonstration, giving them a real insight into the technology and innovation behind the UK's water infrastructure.

Our team will be showcasing RSE's capabilities for the duration of the festival through to Saturday, so be sure to stop by and learn more about RSE, our work across the Highlands and the various career opportunities in the water sector.

To help everyone get into the festival spirit, we're also giving away RSE bucket hats, portable chargers and sunglasses while stocks last!

Last night, RSE attended the Water Industry Awards 2026 in Birmingham, a fantastic evening celebrating the innovation, collaboration, and dedication that make our industry such a rewarding one to be part of.

We were delighted to be shortlisted as finalists for two awards, both in collaboration with Scottish Water; the Drinking Water Initiative of the Year Award for the successful delivery of the Eela Water WTW project and the Sustainability Project of the Year Award for the Timber Modular Builds (TMB) solution for supporting river basin management projects.

Our team thoroughly enjoyed the evening, which provided a valuable opportunity to connect with industry peers, support WaterAid UK through the charity casino games, and celebrate the achievements and progress being made across the water industry.

While we were not successful on the night, being recognised alongside so many outstanding organisations delivering exceptional initiatives across the water sector is something we are incredibly proud of.

Thank you to the organisers for a fantastic event and to Scottish Water for their continued collaboration on these impactful projects. Congratulations to all the finalists, and a huge well done to all the category winners!
