There’s a lot happening behind the scenes to support the delivery of Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm, and across Global, our teams are playing their part. Last week, our Chief Strategy Officer and Comms & Marketing Manager visited the Port of Leith to see some of that work first-hand.

Across the group, our teams are contributing to multiple scopes — including marine logistics and vessel support, cranes and heavy lift, and inspection and technical verification — as part of the delivery of Inch Cape, which, at almost 1.1 GW, is one of Scotland’s largest offshore wind developments.

This specific visit was a great opportunity to learn more about the foundation completions scope that’s currently entering its final stages for Inch Cape Offshore Limited at the Port of Leith. With up to 90 multidisciplinary personnel supporting the scope at its peak, it was also an opportunity to see first-hand the scale of the work taking place before the jacket foundations head offshore.

It was also an opportunity to hear directly from the teams and project partners involved, gaining an insight into the technical expertise, safety, quality, and coordination required, as well as the collaboration across the supply chain that keeps a project of this scale moving.

Another visible milestone for our new headquarters at Inverness Campus, as the first external Global signage is installed.

It may be one of the smaller steps in the build, but seeing the Global name on the building brings into focus what our new headquarters represents: a long-term home for our growing group, bringing our connected capabilities together, creating new opportunities for our people, and supporting the next generation of talent here in the Highlands.

Last week, our Chief Strategy Officer, Barry Carruthers, joined a roundtable hosted by Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce with Stephen Gethins MSP, Minister for Europe, External Affairs and Energy.

Bringing together representatives from a range of sectors across the North-east, the discussion explored some of the key challenges and opportunities facing businesses and the wider regional economy.

Topics included regional growth and investment, energy security and transition, infrastructure, skills and workforce, and the future of the energy sector.

This was the second engagement between Global and the Minister in recent months, reflecting the breadth of Global’s work across several energy sectors, including renewables, transmission and oil & gas, as well as our role in supporting jobs and investment across Scotland.

The Onshore Wind Conference 2026 takes place at the EICC in Edinburgh on 1-2 September, bringing together the industry to discuss the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of onshore wind.

As part of the programme, our Chief Strategy Officer, Barry Carruthers, will join the panel for Session 7B: Keeping projects moving – overcoming the practical challenges of onshore wind delivery on 2 September, 1:00-1:45pm.

The session will explore the practical challenges of delivering increasingly complex onshore wind projects, and what the industry can do to improve coordination, reduce delays and support the continued growth of onshore wind across the UK and Scotland.

During the session, Barry will present on how Global brings together specialist expertise and connected capability across onshore wind projects, from environmental and consenting through to civils, electrical infrastructure, turbine installation, lifting, maintenance, logistics and decommissioning, supporting delivery safely, efficiently and at scale.
