At Global, people are at the heart of everything we do. Our success is built on their skills, ambition, and passion – and for Fraser, Jia, Iona, and Katherine - it brought them straight back.

They all found their way back to Global – to what many refer to as home. Different roles, different journeys, but they all felt the same draw. A feeling. A culture. A people-first approach that's hard to find anywhere else.

"You almost slot right back in…”
“You ultimately come home because you know what good looks like."

That's not a coincidence. We are overwhelmingly a people-led group, and that's what happens when you put people at the centre of every decision, every day.

As Christine Cochrane, Chief Relations Officer, reflects: “People rarely come back to a business just for a role – they come back for the people, the culture and the feeling they had when they were here. We call it the Boomerang Effect.”

If you've ever wondered what it feels like to be part of a company that truly values its people – watch the video below.

As part of our commitment to supporting the communities where we work and live, Global is proud to sponsor local charity SNAP (Special Needs Action Project) and its World Cup 2026 fundraising campaign.

The SNAP World Cup 2026 Predictor Competition, which our Business Solutions team was pleased to support through technical expertise and platform development, is an engaging fundraiser that gives football fans and non-football fans alike the opportunity to test their prediction skills throughout the tournament while raising vital funds for an important local cause.

“Thank you to the Business Solutions team at Global for their fantastic support in developing the website and technology behind the competition. We’re also grateful to everyone taking part and supporting SNAP through this year’s fundraiser.” — Jerry Francis, Competition Organiser

For more than 30 years, SNAP has supported children and young people with additional and complex needs across the Highlands, creating safe and inclusive environments where they can build friendships, develop confidence and reach their potential. For many families, SNAP provides not only activities, but also support, connection and a strong sense of community.

This morning the Global team were in attendance at the Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce's Energy Transition Business Breakfast, where speakers delivered a compelling and thought-provoking address on the future of UK energy.

Having today published its 43rd Energy Transition report, AGCC has revealed that 93% of businesses either agree or strongly agree that there is still a future for oil and gas activity in the North Sea if the UK introduces the right fiscal and regulatory frameworks.

With integrated capabilities across the energy mix - from onshore & offshore renewables to hydrocarbons, transmission & distribution, and alternative fuels - and full project lifecycle, Global recognises that a stable, well-managed transition is essential to protecting both energy security and the skilled workforce that will deliver it.

Katherine Milne, Business Development Director, who was in attendance, commented: "This is yet another powerful message around home-grown energy and the risks to UK and particularly Scotland's energy security reinforced the importance of strategic planning, government mind shift, collaboration, investment and long-term thinking as we navigate the transition. An important conversation for our industry and one we are proud to support."

All-Energy Exhibition and Conference | As the event draws to a close for 2026, we’d like to thank everyone who visited us at Stand L61 over the past two days. As Platinum Sponsors, it has been a great opportunity to showcase our integrated offering and how Global supports end-to-end project delivery across the full energy mix, from concept to completion.

Throughout the event, we were delighted to contribute to the conference programme through various panel sessions featuring Barry Carruthers (Chief Strategy Officer) and Gordon Farmer (Board Director), who shared insight into ‘One Workforce for One Energy: Building Skills for an Integrated Industry’ and the ‘Energy Supply Chain in Transition’.

On the stand, alongside reconnecting with existing clients and partners, the team met new contacts and took part in valuable discussions, with the level of engagement across both days reflecting the strength of collaboration within the sector and the opportunities ahead. Thank you to everyone who joined us for our on-stand sessions, covering topics from ‘Offshore Wind: From Port to Power’ and ‘Modularisation: Innovation or Necessity?’ to ‘Where Will Tomorrow’s Data Centres Get Their Energy?’, and everything in between.

We’d also like to thank everyone who joined us at the end of day one for our on-stand drinks reception, where we continued the conversation around how we can support customers in achieving greater certainty, efficiency and scale through a one-partner approach, while playing a pivotal role in driving the energy transition.

Finally, thank you to all colleagues involved in representing Global throughout the event as we exhibited for the first time as a single, collective group. We look forward to following up on the many valuable conversations and opportunities from the week, while continuing to support clients across the full energy mix and helping enable home-grown energy to be produced safer, faster and more efficiently.

Mental Health Awareness Week (11th-17th May 2026), reminds us that supporting mental wellbeing is not about one conversation or one initiative. It’s about creating a culture where people genuinely look out for each other every day.

At Global, our people are our strength and future, and are at the heart of everything we do. In the video below, it’s great to see some of our colleagues speak so openly about the small moments that can make a real difference.

As Laura MacIver shared: “Looking after people is done by everybody. There are so many good people here that generally just care about each other.”

Chloe Pearson West reflected on the support she received during a difficult time: “My team really rallied around me. They took work off me and redistributed it. We’ve also got mental health ambassadors, so I had calls with them.”

And for Daniel Cormack, support came from a simple act of kindness: “Within an hour, she picked up the phone and said, ‘Is everything alright? Right, let’s go for a coffee.’”

Mental Health Awareness Week, organised by the Mental Health Foundation for the last twenty-five years, highlights the importance of good mental health, challenges stigma and promotes practical actions people can take to support their own wellbeing.

Christine Cochrane, Global's Chief Relations Officer, commented: “Supporting our people is not something we see as an initiative or a campaign - it's simply part of who we are and what we do. We know our people well enough to recognise when someone may need support, and we work hard to create an environment where people feel safe to speak openly, ask for help and look out for one another”
