🍸 Ahead of tomorrow’s World Gin Day, we're celebrating the distilleries proving that sustainability belongs in every pour.
A special welcome to Wilder Spirits, whose new Welsh gin is distilled on an 80-acre rewilding site and packaged in the Frugal Bottle, helping restore nature while cutting packaging carbon emissions.

And they join a growing community of pioneering craft distillers and established gin brands choosing the Frugal Bottle to reduce their environmental impact without compromising on quality, taste or standout shelf appeal.
The gin sector has always been a hub of innovation. It's fantastic to see so many brands now innovating beyond what's inside the bottle and rethinking the bottle itself.
Here's to a World Gin Day that's better for gin lovers and the planet. 🥂

What do white eggs and wine bottles have in common?

Both show that cutting carbon often means challenging assumptions we've held for years.

Sainsbury's decision to switch from brown eggs to white eggs is a great example.

The retailer says white eggs have a lower carbon footprint because the hens that lay them require less feed and produce fewer emissions.

It's a useful reminder that the more sustainable option isn't always the one people expect.

The drinks industry faces a similar challenge.

Packaging accounts for a significant proportion of the carbon footprint of alcoholic drinks, with glass bottles among the biggest contributors.

So if the sector is serious about reducing emissions, it can't afford to ignore the bottle.

That's why more brands are exploring lower-carbon alternatives such as the Frugal Bottle, which has up to six times lower carbon emissions than a standard glass bottle.

Net zero won't be achieved by doing things the way they've always been done.

It will come from questioning assumptions, following the evidence and choosing lower-carbon solutions.

Sainsbury’s says white ones are better for the planet, but that’s not all. For half a century, British shoppers have been paying extra for brown shells and orange yolks – but from the number stamped on the shell to the colour and age of a hen, this is what really matters, writes Hannah Twiggs

While packaging costs continue to rise across the industry due to energy, raw materials and EPR, the cost of producing a Frugal Bottle is falling.

Our next-generation Frugal Bottle Assembly Machine (FBAM-2) increases production capacity by more than 5x, helping reduce the cost of producing Frugal Bottles at scale.

That means packaging that's not only lower carbon, but increasingly cost-competitive too.

As brands face rising costs and growing sustainability demands, we believe the future belongs to solutions that deliver both environmental and economic benefits.

Lower carbon. Higher efficiency. Better economics.

That's the future of packaging.

Great packaging doesn’t just protect a product. It tells its story.
Brilliant to see Wine Business Monthly spotlight Nature’s Grace from Scheid Family Wines, which uses the Frugal Bottle to bring together sustainability, shelf appeal and standout design.

One of the biggest advantages of the Frugal Bottle is creative freedom. Unlike a traditional glass bottle, the entire surface can become part of the label - giving brands more space for colour, storytelling, sustainability messaging and visual impact.

As Scheid’s Kristina Peterson put it: “The entire piece is your label.”
The result? A bottle that is five times lighter than glass, six times lower in carbon footprint, fully recyclable and proof that sustainable packaging is beautiful, modern and premium.

Great conversations, inspiring brands and growing momentum behind low-carbon packaging 🌍🍷

The growing debate around EPR is highlighting something the entire food and drink supply chain can no longer ignore: weight matters.

With reports warning that the UK’s £2bn packaging tax could increase food prices and put pressure on manufacturing investment, businesses are being forced to rethink the true cost of packaging.

At Frugalpac, we believe innovation is part of the solution.

Our recent Reshaping the Bottle report found:
♻️ Glass bottle costs have risen by up to 70% in some markets
♻️ EPR schemes are making glass one of the most expensive packaging materials
♻️ 73% of consumers say they would switch to products with more sustainable packaging
♻️ The Frugal Bottle delivers 84% lower carbon emissions, 77% lower EPR fees and is 5x lighter than glass

Sustainability and affordability shouldn’t be competing priorities.

The future of packaging must reduce carbon, reduce waste and reduce unnecessary costs across the supply chain.
