You wouldn't print a thousand brochures and shut them in a drawer.

A website nobody can find is the same thing.

What a night! 🎉

Last night I went to the East Anglian Property and Construction Ball at Milsoms Kesgrave Hall, raising money for EACH, East Anglia's Children's Hospices.

Stephen Mulhern hosted the evening and kept the room laughing all night, and I even managed to grab a photo with him (in the comments! lol) Between the entertainment and the auction, thousands of pounds were raised for an incredible cause.

The part that'll stay with me, though, was hearing the stories from families EACH has supported. When your child is seriously ill, the care, comfort and time together this charity gives makes a difference you can't put a price on. Some of those stories were really moving.

A huge thank you to my good friend and client Rob Reeve of UK Carpet Care for inviting me along as his plus-one. Rob, I had a brilliant night, cheers mate. 🙌

And well done to Longfields Circle for organising, and to everyone who bid, donated and dug deep. Lovely night, brilliant cause.

New one live: tradeMark Kitchens. 🔨

Liam has been fitting kitchens and bathrooms across Suffolk since 2016. The thing his customers keep saying in their reviews is that he runs the whole job. He visits, he quotes, he fits, and he brings in the plasterer, the electrician and the tiler at the right time. One point of contact from first visit to final clean.

So that's what the website says, right at the top, in plain words. Kitchen and bathroom fitters in Suffolk. Who does the work. How to get a quote.

Then the part nobody sees. A page for each area he actually covers, from Needham Market and Stowmarket to Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds. Real customer questions answered in plain words. All structured so Google and AI assistants can read exactly what he does and where he does it.

A good fitter with fourteen five star reviews deserves to be the name that comes up when someone local asks for one. That's the job.

Reviews are the only marketing I properly trust, mainly because I didn't write them.

Thank you for taking the time. It matters more than you'd think when the whole business is one person.

Structure is the least glamorous part of a website and the part that decides whether it gets found. 📚

Katherine came to me with 78 Word documents and a very clear picture of what she wanted. A proper reference library, with a journal she could publish to herself.

Most of the job wasn't design. It was working out how seventy plus pages should connect, so a visitor can find their way around and never hit a dead end.

That same structure is what search engines and AI assistants read. Clear pages, each about one thing, linked together sensibly. It's what lets a machine understand a site well enough to send people to it.

A site built that way keeps earning its keep long after launch day.

Is ChatGPT sending your customers to someone else? 👀

More people are asking AI "who's the best (business) near me?" instead of Googling it. If you're not in the answer, you're invisible.

Here's a 30-second check you can do right now:

1️⃣ Ask ChatGPT who the best [your trade] is in [your town]. Are you named?

2️⃣ Check your Google Business Profile. Same name, address and phone number everywhere, and fresh reviews coming in.

3️⃣ Make sure your website says exactly what you do and where, in plain English. AI can't recommend what it can't understand.

Not showing up? Message me "AI check" and I'll take a look for you. 👇

(Yes, that's a cartoon me. The real one's busy building websites.)

Still get a bit of a buzz when one of these lands. ⭐

Never gets old, and I know writing a review is a faff, so thank you for bothering.

Have a read.

Did you know the second most used place to look something up is now ChatGPT, behind only Google?

Google is still far and away the biggest, especially for local searches. But AI assistants have gone from novelty to habit very quickly, and people use them for exactly the things that used to be a Google search.

"Find this near me." "I need a plumber." "Who does windows and doors round here?"

Here's the catch. An AI assistant doesn't show ten results. It names two or three businesses and stops. If your website isn't structured so it can understand what you do and where, you're not in that answer, and the customer goes to a competitor who is.

You don't need to panic and you don't need to rebuild everything. You do need to know where you stand.

That's one of the four things I check in the complimentary audit: growthmatix.co.uk/audit

Try this on your own homepage today. It takes five seconds, which is the point. ⏱️

Open your site on your phone. Don't scroll. From what's on the screen, can a stranger tell:

🔹 What you do, in plain words?
🔹 Where you do it?
🔹 Who it's for?
🔹 How to get hold of you?

A lot of sites open with a big photo and a line like "Quality you can trust". Lovely, but it tells a visitor nothing, and it tells Google and AI search even less.

"Kitchen fitter in Ipswich and across Suffolk. Call or WhatsApp for a quote." That one line does more work than most whole homepages.

If you want a second pair of eyes on yours, the complimentary audit covers it: growthmatix.co.uk/audit
